I am a married woman and mother of five children, ranging from 5 to 14 years old. My husband and I were both deployed oversees with the Military to Iraq and Afghanistan. We both suffer from PTSD and try to do our best as a Family. Recently we noticed that our ceiling was falling through. We found out that our roof was going bad and had to have it repaired in its entirety. The cost for that was immense, and even though we have paid for a huge part of it, we just cannot afford it all. That is why we are turning to Modest Needs. We did not expect this expense and try to save for emergencies, but unexpected expenses have been arising lately. A few months ago I had to buy a new car because my transmission died, and to replace it was almost as much as a new vehicle. I am afraid that without your help the whole ceiling will begin to collapse and eventually fall. This will become an even bigger expense and we will also be compromising the health and well being of our children. This will help me mentally because as my husband likes to call me, I am a worry wart and can have a little peace of mind. When it rains I can't sleep because I want to make sure my children are okay. York County Heritage Trust announced this week it will participate as a 2013 Blue Star Museum , offering free admission to active-duty Military members and up to five Family members from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The program, a collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts , Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense , “offers these families a chance to visit museums this summer when many will have limited resources and limited time to be together,” according to the NEA website . May 20, 2013 - Hayden resident Don Bradway's father was on a night intruder mission when his Corsair fighter-bomber went down in the midst of the Korean War. "He was in North Korea and he was making a bombing run on a truck convoy," Don Bradway said Saturday. "He was in an area that was known to be completely enemy territory." U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Judson Jack Bradway, a pilot from El Toro Marine Corps Air Station in southern California, had been in Korea for months before his plane went down on Sept. 20, 1951.
