Santa Teresa High School Marching Band Uses Crowdfunding for New Uniforms

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Santa Teresa High School Marching Band needs new uniforms. The ones the Band currently has are outdated and don’t fit the students anymore. The old uniforms do not represent the Band as a school. The new uniforms are sleek with a modern design that reflects who the Marching Band is now, and they were fitted for the correct sizes of the students. The Band director, Julie Bounds, says, “The current Marching Band uniforms do not reflect or represent the program we have today. I started to realize something about my own students after being here for a year or two. The Lincolnwood Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to be held on Monday, May 27 at 10:20 a.m. According to first-year Marching Band instructor, Justin Johnson , all Band students will be participating in the parade. Johnson said he has high expectations for his students’ performance. “The hope is to play and do our best!” he said. Sophomore and drum-line player Zach Hiyama said he feels ready to perform. “I am not nervous about it because I have done it once before,” he said. “It is more just excitement.” Clarinet player, sophomore Gabriella Guerra, shares Hiyama’s excitement. “I am excited about participating in the parade; it feels great to give back to our community,” she said. “Playing patriotic music is a nice way to show respect to those who have fought and are fighting for America.” The parade will start along Pratt Avenue and end in Proesel Park in Lincolnwood. ...

DANVILLE — WorldStrides Heritage Performance programs has invited the Marching Band from Danville High School to perform at the 2013 McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. They will join Marching bands from across the country in the halftime show finale of this major college bowl game. Under the direction of Christie Cochran, the Danville High School Marching Band will travel to Chicago where they will rehearse with the mass Band and learn from nationally acclaimed adjudicators.
