Photo - Roger Zender How was your experience playing at Coachella? Coachella was a good time. It was my first time attending. I got to see a lot of bands. We weren't sure what to expect with our early slot on the first day, but people showed up. Probably the biggest crowd we've ever played for. Do you prefer doing larger, festival-type gigs or smaller, intimate shows? They both have their charms. One of the great things about the level we're at is that we play all varieties of rooms when we're out on tour. From a 150 capacity club in Tucson to an 800 room in New York to a 3,000 crowd at Coachella.I like that variation. It's a different experience everywhere you go. Can't say I prefer any of them in particular. You've stated that your travels have provided a lot of inspiration for your music. Can you talk about your process of transforming an experience in a foreign land into art and music? Is there a very direct connection between your experiences abroad and your work back home, or is the connection more abstract? I reckon that connection is sometimes direct and sometimes more abstract. Some of that influence has come from musical encounters I've had, such as with Indonesian street musicians. That feels pretty direct. Sometimes I'll write about experiences or adventures I've had out there. I think the majority of the time it's more about trying to capture and convey something I've felt. Forget the pretentiously ridiculous name, this band are everything that comes into your head when you think of cool LA indie bands. Lord Huron provide a laid back, relaxed sound. Despite being such a tight, collective unit these days, the band were originally set up as a solo project by former Navy man Ben Schneider, who grew up listening to music his father played around a camp fire on summer nights at Lake Huron. Like so many before him, this former art student has walked into music as he couldn’t decide what to do with himself, but in the process he has managed to create a unique kind of music that many music fans will love. Lord Huron produce such incredibly feel good sounds. The kind of music you will find yourself telling your mates about long after the show. Album Review: Lord Huron, “Lonesome Dreams”

Artist : Lord Huron Album : Lonesome Dreams Label: Iamsound Release Date : October 9, 2012 Rating : 3.5 For their debut album, Lord Huron hits all the marks they’re supposed to with Lonesome Dreams . The music is prolific and each track offers a different side of Lord Huron. There is still room for the band to grow and develop with newer music, but for now, Lonesome Dreams is a great start with music to attract a wide fan-base. “Ends of the Earth” opens the album gloriously with profound lyrics and epic imagery. It’s very similar to Joseph Arthur’s “In the Sun” and other songs like it but still offers something different. It’s a good late-night walking song that forces you to complement on your actions, where you have been, and where you’re going. “Time To Run” is also a decent track but tapers off in the middle making it clear this isn’t a normal verse-chorus song. “Time To Run” leads right into “Lonesome Dreams”, for which the album is named. This, like other songs on the album, sounds close to “Ends of the Earth” which is both good and bad. It’s good because it portrays the bands true style and bad in that a few songs tend to sound exactly the same, especially if their choruses use the same chords. It’s easy to appreciate the experimental sounds on tracks like “The Ghost On The Shore” and “She Lit a Fire” which are almost two indistinguishable songs from each other. As spring quickly blossoms into summer, songs like Lord Huron’s “Time To Run” are a surefire way to put a smile on my face and a dance in my step. After a massive Coachella comedown, songs like this make me yearn to be around fellow music lovers, singing and dancing together on a sun-drenched field. While folk music is something I’d normally pass on by, I cannot deny that this LA-based indie folk band has stirred something within me. He spent a week at the site of his childhood retreats: the shores of Lake Huron. It was there he set to work developing a batch of songs and a week later, the first Lord Huron EP was complete. He named the recording, Into the Sun. Upon his return to L.A., Ben set to work putting a band together. He called on his percussion-playing childhood friend Mark, who was in Nashville after performing for a time in the Caribbean. Mark swiftly packed up his drums and other gadgets and drove across country to California. The boys then recruited the rest of the Mighty Band, each of whom hail from Michigan.
