Kyle Larson brought home a top-10 finish at Darlington Raceway, his fourth of the 2013 season. In his first ever tangle with 'The Lady in Black,' Larson scored his career-best NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start before bringing home a sixth-place finish in the Sport Clips VFW Help A Hero 200. After putting his No. 32 Cessna Chevrolet sixth on the scoring pylon in the weekend's only practice session, Larson laid down a 29.720-second qualifying lap, earning him the seventh spot on the grid and his best starting position in nine NNS events. Solidly holding a top-10 position after the wave of the green flag, Larson was scored eighth when the first caution flag of the night was displayed on lap 24. Kyle Larson rallied back from an 18th-place starting position to score his second top-10 finish of the 2013 season. The Turner Scott Motorsports crew continuously improved on the handling of the No. 32 Cessna Camaro as Larson wheeled it through the field, resulting in an eighth-place finish and Sunoco Rookie of the Race honors at Richmond International Raceway (RIR). After two lengthy practice sessions at the 0.75-mile RIR, Larson laid down a best qualifying lap of 21.833 seconds, placing him 18th on the starting grid. Larson piloted his No. 32 Cessna Chevrolet up to the 15th spot within the first 15 laps of the race, maintaining the position until the first yellow flag of the day waved on lap 25. Over the course of a five-minute red flag, Larson relayed to crew chief Trent Owens that he was too free in and off of the corners. The driver formerly known as Shrub dominated both the Friday night NNS race and the Saturday night Sprint Cup NRA 500, and the only reason I’m mentioning the title sponsor’s name is because a fan in the infied exercised his second amendment right and committed suicide with his own legally owned gun. Pretty sad. The Cup race saw Martin Truex Jr., Cousin Carl, Greg Biffle and Joey Logano finish second through fifth behind the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Toyota with Jimmie Johnson, Aric Almirola, Brian Vickers, Brad Keselowski and Ryan Newman in the top 10.
