Post by Mary Fischer Uhhhhh, can someone please explain to me what just happened during the freestyle performances on Dancing With the Stars ? Because I'm sitting here crying -- which never, EVER happens when I watch this show. Like ever. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy tuning in each week and all and it's fun to watch the performances, but I'm simply not one of those people who "gets" dance. I never understood what the hype was all about -- that is, until I watched Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough 's contemporary freestyle routine. To say that I'm speechless doesn't even cover it. (I'm NEVER speechless.) Their performance was in a word -- unbelievable. And now I get it. I really do. And if they don't win the mirror ball trophy, I may not be recapping the show next season. (Ok, that's a lie. But seriously -- that's how moved I am after watching them.) Seriously, you guys -- I'm kind of a mess. And I've never teared up from watching DWTS , until tonight, I guess. There is quite a bit of glitz and glamour on this show, and sometimes it's easy to forget what the competition is all about. It's about people who have no professional dance background learning how to captivate an audience after taking the ballroom floor. Kellie Pickler has made it to finals on Dancing With the Stars. With only four remaining contestants, it could be anyone’s mirror ball trophy for the taking. Zendaya and Val, Aly and Mark and Jacoby and Karina are in the finals. In the final two-hour performance show, the remaining couples will compete in three rounds of dance. In the first round, each couple will take on a new routine in a dance style that the judges would like to see again. In round two, the couples will be challenged to a Cha Cha relay, where each pair dances to a different section of the same song. In the last round — and one of the biggest competitive dances of the season — the couples take on a supersized freestyle featuring special effects, additional dancers and unexpected surprises.
