For my second entry in the Blogger’s Quilt Festival, I decided to enter my Kaleidoscope mini/doll quilt . This is another one that I LOVE, but gave away! I made this for the flickr Doll Quilt Swap . This was a little one that I sketched and then fell in love with! My intention was not that it would match the drawing exactly, but once I saw the sketch and the undulating patterns, I knew I had sketched it just how I wanted it to be! The colors were picked by my partner in the swap. But, yes, I love them too! The back used the same colors. And since I quilted in the ditch for this one, on the back it ended up looking like a spider web. Kinda hard to see in this picture though. The mini wall hanging ended up being about 18 inches square And was done all by little ‘ole me! Did you enter the Blogger’s Quilt Festival this year??? ...

A bit of exciting News - Regarding the Bat ID Software application from Wildlife Acoustics: Kaleidoscope Pro. I've known about it for a short time... But, have only recently been given the green light to inform you of the wonderful improvements that have been made to the Kaleidoscope software package! For those who are somewhat familiar with it, and for those who have used the 15-day Trial, etc. You will be astonished when you see the awesome improvements that have been made! This new Version (Ver. 1.0.11) hasn't been released yet ...But, will be made available soon !...And, features are still being finely-tuned, even as I write. I must state, that it is simply awe-inspiring. The interface itself looks remarkable! The oscillogram/spectrogram display screen shows bat calls as a unique combination of white zero-cross type dots, imposed onto bright green (default) full-spectrum bat calls. I am thrilled to have this new Version (Ver. 1.0.11) and am enjoying it immensely! Unfortunately, my main Netbook (laptop) has become temporarily inaccessible (quite unexpectedly). ...So...I am currently unable to share all the great screen shots with you at this time . I'm sorry! I am deeply troubled by this! Rest assured, I will share a bunch of screen shots of this latest version, as soon as I can! Just a reminder - I'm currently working on several Posts, as per this recent Update . And, of course The Best Of The Best bat detectors post... Ha ...

I have no clue why my mother and father never played this Nancy Wilson record when I was younger, but I just played it for the first time just now, and it is great. I didn't dig her covers of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine", and Gladys Knight's "If I Were Your Woman", but that's only because the originals were just fine on their own. Those two songs notwithstanding, the rest of this album is just good, old-fashioned fully grown adult music. When I listened to this, I felt like I should smoking a cigar, sipping on something brown, and talking about how things used to be. By the way, this album came out in 1971, overall she recorded over 30 albums between 1959 and 2006, and it is still amazing that this is the first one I've ever heard. I need to work on that. The first time I saw Nancy Wilson, she was on the Cosby Show doing this (start at the 58 second mark: And here is Nancy singing, "I'll Get Along Somehow": ...

Kaleidoscope Cultural Arts Festival is currently taking vendor form for artists and performers to set up for FREE at the second festival on May 25th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The inaugural event had more than 40 vendors come out, including painters, sculptors, juggling clowns, Renaissance Festival performers, live music, live painting demonstrations and more.
