With regard to the sequels to and remakes of your favorite properties from 1982-1993: Dan Aykroyd continues to promise Ghostbusters 3, revealing that the sequel plot centers on troubling research by Columbia University particle physicists. Director Gil Kenan (City of Ember) has begun to cast his remake of Poltergeist for a September shoot in Toronto. Plot details have surfaced. Sam Neill says it is unlikely he will be a part of Jurassic Park 4, in part because he believes it is a reboot. More on each project after the jump. Feel free to ignore any news on Ghostbusters 3 until it gets in front of cameras, but if you are still curious, Aykroyd spoke about Ghostbusters 3 on Larry King Now [via Coming Soon]: "It's based on new research that's being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University. ... We heard a few days ago that Jurassic Park 4 had been put on hold, but Universal’s reasoning was unclear. However, now we have a rumor coming out saying the Steven Spielberg himself asked the film to be halted after he stated that the script was “crap.” I feel bad for the scriptwriters, but then again – this is the guy who supported the mutant dinosaurs with guns in the original script. Not trying to rag on Steven here, but while I love his movies, sometimes his decisions are a bit bizarre. We’ll wait and see if the script gets re-written into an acceptable state, or if JP4 remains on ice for now. Seen via NeoGAF. ...
