Jessica Chastain hit the red carpet in Cannes last night for the All is Lost premiere and, didn’t she do well? The 36-year-old Sacramento-born actress was wearing a purple embellished Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown which looked heavy- it’d have been like carting around a very weighty carpet – especially given her tiny stature. That rich purple fabric looked fantastic against her skin tone and hair colour, although the hastily pulled up pony tail looked scruffy and I’d have loved to have seen it worn down around her shoulders in smooth 50′s style waves. As Jessica was trotting up the Palais des Festivales steps she showed off purple spanks to match her dress so there were no tell-tale patches of white or beige showing through the material when the photographers’ flashes went off. It was a gift given to Taylor by Burton on her 40th birthday, in 1972.
