The Jakarta Fair's main stage in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, was empty at 6 p.m., on Thursday last week, but 16-year-old Ari and Dede were already sitting patiently near the area. "We came here to see Slank perform," Dede told The Jakarta Post Travel. The Jakarta-based band was not scheduled to perform until 9 p.m., but the keen young couple had been at the Jakarta Fair Ground since 3 p.m. "It took hours to get here from home [in Tangerang, west of Jakarta]. If it was not for Slank, we wouldn't have come at all," Ari said, adding that they had both attended the festival last year to see Slank. Concerts every night from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., is one of the Jakarta Fair's strategies to lure visitors. This year, more than 270 local musicians will grace the main stage, performing for up to 10,000 each night. Big names include Afgan, Ari Lasso, Ayu Ting Ting, Cokelat, d'Masiv, Geisha, Godbless, Iwan Fals, Jamrud, J-Rocks, Kotak, Maliq & D'Essentials, Naif, Nidji, Raisa, Sheila on 7, Smash, Trio Macan, Ungu and Wali, are set to entertain music fans.
