Actually, astrobiologists have recently discovered water trapped in rocks from a mine beneath Ontario, Canada that are similar to Martian rocks containing chemicals known to support life, but this is not enough for humankind, (we) transhumanists have a deep hunger for discoveries and human enhancements and this article will try to focus on the importance of transhumanism and space exploration with manned missions. The situation so far related to space exploration could be summarized as follows: the well known Project Icarus is established as a private study based on theoretical and intense feelings towards unmanned space exploration and one of their challenges is to design an Interstellar spaceship capable of traveling to other star systems and galaxies using the most advanced technology before the year 2100. Birkbeck College Scientist, Ian Crawford stated that future space ships will be powered by nuclear fusion engines all of them provided with technology capable of braking when the space ship arrives to its designed space destination, obviously once telescopes have confirmed the existence of an Earth-like exoplanet and the spaceship arrives near the orbiter of that planet. Daedalus, a 190 meter-space Interstellar ship designed in the 70s could arrive to the Bernard System (located at a 5.98 light year distance) in fifty years. Even ...

Naturally the shot you see above — showcasing just one nursery (IC 2944, according to Phys.org ) where stars are born in spectacular fashion — was captured by the VLT. The telescope's massive optical power makes it feel as if you're right there, but in reality this cloud lies some 6500 light-years away. Researchers turned on the Very Large Telescope in May of 1998, and since then it's proven to be an indispensable tool cited in countless scientific papers and studies. And as you can clearly see, it's still producing wondrous results. Continue reading… ...

Ortho-Para Selection Rules in the Gas-phase Chemistry of Interstellar Ammonia

Source: iopscience.iop.org --- Monday, May 20, 2013
The ortho-para chemistry of ammonia in the cold Interstellar medium is investigated using a gas-phase chemical network. Branching ratios for the primary reaction chain involved in the formation and destruction of ortho- and para-NH 3 were derived using angular momentum rules based on the conservation of the nuclear spin. We show that the "anomalous" ortho-to-para ratio of ammonia (~0.7) observed in various Interstellar regions is in fact consistent with nuclear spin selection rules in a para-enriched H 2 gas. This ratio is found to be independent of temperature in the range 5-30 K. We also predict an ortho-to-para ratio of ~2.3 for NH 2 . We conclude that a low ortho-to-para ratio of H 2 naturally drives the ortho-to-para ratios of nitrogen hydrides below the statistical values. ...

I was dreaming of gazing up at the stars wondering if there was any life out there. Then a sudden immense flash of extremely bright light invaded my conscious space. I saw a very tall white entity. The light surrounding it was very bright and difficult to see the details. I telepathically asked "what are you?" and was conveyed via thought transference "an Interstellar explorer". I felt this entity was somewhat like a "scientist" gathering and exchanging information. Our life force energy "fused". It was an overwhelming experience but positive. I awoke immediately after the event, "knowing" without any doubt it was "real". I felt a "complete" sense of "calm accepting" for at least a week after the event. I believe that we are and have been communicating all the time with other entities throughout the universe via our senses. Like Dr. Greer mentioned, via our "higher consciousness". ...

I would like to see a system implemented where you can order equipment whilst in deep space whether a space-station is in that system or not. So if for example you are out of ammo, you can query your map of systems you already pass through for stations or starbases that supply that type of item; for a fee it will be sent to you by an attached hyperdrive. You will have to sit and wait for it to arrive in your vicinity. Exact coordinates would be displayed on a monitor and you will have to fly there then, using your Fuel-scoops to retrieve it. I used to play a very buggy game on one of the Amiga machines back in the 80's called Deep-space that used a similar system and it was immensely enjoyable when enemies where closing down on you and you are out of ammo. Crazy idea I know but I think will be enjoyable ...
