Helmand Police Chief Abdul Nabi Alham on Sunday raised his concerns over increasing terror activities and support provided by the drug smugglers to execute terror attacks in the southern Helmand province. Police Chief Abdul Nabi Alham while talking at a press conference in Lashkar Gah, capital of Helmand province told reporters that based on some information it has been found that the drug smugglers, in order to keep their poppy cultivation business booming fund the Insurgents in this province. Abdul Nabi Alham said that in the recent clash between Afghan security forces and Insurgents in the Sangin district of Helmand province, nearly 400 Insurgents were hired by drug smugglers to support the armed opposition groups in their fight against the security forces. "Received documents and evidences indicate that during the recent clash in Sangin District, the drug smugglers hired 400 Insurgents for 100,000 Pakistani rupees each, to fight against the security forces. It has been also found that the smugglers promised these men 200,000 Pakistani rupees for their families if they were killed in the clash. These evidences clearly show that the armed opposition groups are being supported by the drug smugglers," Alham Said. Meanwhile, Helmand Police Chief added that the armed opposition groups also get strong support from other regional countries, which is extremely concerning.
