Despite rumors that Microsoft's new IllumiRoom is not ready for demo, we just might see the new technology make an appearance at today's Xbox event after all. Gaming site CVG is reporting that a demo will be shown off at the event that is scheduled to begin at 1PM today . IllumiRoom is Microsoft's next big thing in gaming. It appears to project an extended view of the game onto the surounding walls of the room your TV is in to provide a truly immersive experience. We saw this new feature being shown off at CES earlier this year, but rumors quickly surfaced saying that it would not make an official debut until Q4 this year at the earliest. While we are still unsure if IllumiRoom will make an appearance today, we know for a fact that the new Xbox will be unveiled today and we will be providing up to the second coverage in the form of a Live Blog , as well as news posts as they happen. We’re just a few hours away from the big event, taking place in Redmond today. Microsoft is putting the final touches on what should be an interesting console reveal, as the PS4′s main competition takes centre stage. The question on everyone’s mind though; what will Microsoft be focusing on? Kinect would be a good guess, but not the answer most people are hoping for. What about IllumiRoom though, the Kinect-enabled project that has the ability to alter you room and project the game around you. The proof of concept video released a few months back piqued a lot of people’s interest, mainly because it actually has some practical uses for serious gaming. According to Windows blogger Paul Thurrott, who is known for his accuracy, Microsoft are prepared to show off this tech at tonight’s reveal. He also goes on to say something about a subsidized next-gen Xbox being scrapped. So much for that then. On top of this, McLaren made a surprise announcement and advised everyone to tune into Microsoft’s stream tonight. Out of the kindness of their own hears? I think not. McLaren most probably has something to do with the reveal themselves, which lead many to believe that Forza 5 would be announced as a next-gen exclusive. Microsoft has once more shuffled its plans for the next Xbox, as it will no longer offer a subsidized model of the console, and technology it says will not be ready until a few years from now, IllumiRoom, will now be part of the reveal event. Noted Windows blogger says new Kinect-enabled technology to be shown off tomorrow, subsidized next-gen Xbox plans scrapped. Microsoft will demo the Kinect-enabled IllumiRoom video system tomorrow during its next-generation reveal event . That's according to noted Windows blogger Paul Thurrott, who has a track record of accuracy . The IllumiRoom technology can alter the appearance of a room, trigger apparent motion, and extend a field of view, all in the name of enabling new gameplay and viewing experiences. A proof-of-concept video of the system is available below. In addition, Thurrott said that Microsoft's plans to release a subsidized Xbox 720 have been scrapped. Previously, it was believed that Microsoft would offer a $300 Xbox 720 if gamers signed up to pay $15 per month for two years of Xbox Live Gold. A Microsoft representative was not immediately available to comment. Microsoft currently offers a similar plan for the Xbox 360, allowing gamers to grab a system for $99 when they sign up for the two-year broadband plan .
