Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has had its share of ups and downs over the last several months, and today analysts at Jefferies have reaffirmed their hold rating on the stock. One of the main focal points of the latest report from Jefferies is on the long-rumored IWatch, which analyst Peter Misek believes won’t amount to much for the company. Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s Rumored IWatch According to Misek, the product will likely be just another watch and won’t make any major impact, either on the market or on the company’s bottom line. In his view, the IWatch will be more of a hobby item for fitness enthusiasts rather than Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s next big product. He said they’ve been trying out four different smart watches recently. They liked the one made by Nike, but they didn’t see much of a point for the devices to be used for general use rather than just for fitness. They said because of the small size of the smart watches, it makes the touchscreen difficult to use. The IWatch is a big project According to Bloomberg , Apple has a team of around 100 designers working on "a wristwatch-like device that may perform some of the tasks now handled by the iPhone and iPad". This company just exploded onto the scene today. Along with the watch and ring, these are the new Geak Eye and Geak Mars phones. We’ve seen a lot of Chinese companies leaping on Android to make their debut as phone hardware makers in the past year. Apparently there’s still room for yet more new smartphone brands to emerge – and today China-based Geak is debuting with two brand-new smartphones and two other surprising new products. It’s as if someone at Geak said, “Hey, let’s take all those Apple rumors and just make all that shit ourselves.” The two bits of wearable tech are the Geak Watch and the Geak Ring (pictured below). The latter is a finger ring, rather bulky, that has no external indication that it’s a smart device. Basically, the Geak Ring works with the company’s two new smartphones that were also launched today, the Geak Mars and Geak Eye. The Geak Ring – which has a claimed stand-by battery life of 99 years – seems to have three main functions: it can optionally be used to securely unlock your Geak phone, to bump your contact details to someone with the same device, and to keep your device awake when you’re holding your Geak phone in proximity to the ring. The idea of an Apple-branded smart watch has kept the tech community buzzing for quite some time, but consumers aren’t too enticed by the idea of an IWatch. At least that’s what a recent survey seems to indicate. According to Retrevo , which polled more than three thousand online buyers from May 29 through June 3, the IWatch is Apple’s least-anticipated rumored product. The study groups were broken down into three categories: Everyone, iPhone Owners and Android Owners. Only six percent of those polled in the Everyone group said they were most excited by an Apple IWatch, with 11 percent of the iPhone Owners group voting for the alleged Apple smart watch. The IWatch failed to garner much interest from the Android crowd, gaining only three percent of the vote from that category. The next-generation iPad reigned supreme across all three categories, winning 15 percent of the vote from Everyone, 23 percent of iPhone Owners polled, and 12 percent of the Android community. Noteworthy runner-ups were the less expensive iPhone and iTV, but a new MacBook came in close to last, although it still beat the IWatch across the board.
