I couldn't find a "found DeLorean" thread. This is from the article "The interior is pretty ugly. The upholstery and cushioning is ripped and falling apart in several places, and it wouldn't be a stretch to say that something's been nesting in it. The rear window and both floorboards are full of leaves, sticks, and other debris. I'd guess that it was left outdoors for awhile with a door open, although everything is sealed up now." As a side note, I've been hearing rumors of a DeLorean about an hour north of me that's belongs to a Ford dealership's owner. It's in the shop up on a lift. Sam Hopkins, a senior majoring in Computer Science and in Mathematics, has been selected to receive the 2013 University of Washington College of Arts & Sciences Deans Medal for the Natural Sciences. Four senior medals are awarded annually by the College of Arts & Sciences: to the top graduating student in the Arts, the Humanities, the Social Sciences, and the Natural Sciences. Sam – incidentally the son of long-time UW Chemistry chair Paul Hopkins – will be a Computer Science graduate student at Cornell University in the fall, supported by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship that he received in March . Johns Hopkins researchers have developed new guidelines - the first in more than 35 years - to govern the amount of blood ordered for surgical patients. The recommendations, based on a lengthy study of blood use at The Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH), can potentially save the medical center more than $200,000 a year and improve patient safety, researchers say. A report on the research that led up to the new guidelines, published online in the journal Anesthesiology, suggests millions of dollars a year nationwide could be saved in laboratory costs and wasted blood if other hospitals also reconsider how they prepare blood for surgery. The researchers say the guidelines ensure that blood is readied for surgeries likely to require transfusions and that time isn’t spent preparing blood for surgeries that rarely require them. “In 1976, when the last guidelines were published, there were 60 surgical procedures on the list. Now, with the addition of laparoscopy, robotic surgery and other minimally invasive techniques, there are 135 categories of surgical procedures,” says study leader Steven M. Frank, M.D., an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. “Blood loss has declined over time as surgery has evolved, but the guidelines were never reconsidered, leading to a lot of unnecessary work to prepare blood for surgery.” ...

CLEVELAND — The security lines at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport were flowing Wednesday. It’s one day after a Cleveland man was arrested for packing a loaded gun in his luggage. Police say James Forcina, 61, of Independence, was arrested at the airport Tuesday after TSA officers spotted a loaded gun in his carry-on bag. According to the TSA, they immediately confiscated a .38-caliber gun that was loaded with five rounds, including one in the chamber. Forcina is charged with carrying a concealed weapon. “I feel safer. I know that the protocols are working and I like it because of all the travel I do for business,” said Mitchell McKenzie, of Mansfield, Ohio. According to police reports, Forcina told police he had a concealed carry permit for the gun. He also told police that he had checked his bag several times and didn’t see it.
