Airing on Monday , the segment features Boise, Idaho, pastor and radio host Matt Slick attempting to make the case that Christians are becoming victims. "The Christians that I talked to are intimidated," Slick told Bee. "They'll often get intimidated, they'll often get persecuted ... for just saying that they believe that homosexuality is wrong, or that homosexuals are sinful -- just like adulterers, just like pedophiles, just like liars, just like thieves." Slick goes on to claim that homosexuals "are not tolerant" of Christians and even proposes -- to a visibly dubious Bee -- that "homosexuals go out and find straights to beat up." "These kinds of events are not publicized very well," Slick said. "Why is this not being covered?" In a sardonic voice-over, Bee asks why "this hypothetical violence [is] not being covered, or recorded, or even occurring? Maybe it’s because the figures are being hushed up by the Homosexual-Industrial Complex.” Openly gay Christian and Huffington Post blogger Todd Clayton helped the "Daily Show" write the segment and was also interviewed by Bee onscreen. He later spoke with HuffPost about the purpose of the piece. "The motivation ... was to expose the fallacy [of anti-LGBT Christians claiming to be victims of bullyi ...

But there is a bright side, for lesbians. Yes, there is loathsome discrimination against homosexual couples who email real estate agents in search of rentals. But... does this count as a blow against the patriarchy? According to HUD’s study , same-sex couples experience unequal treatment more often than heterosexual couples when responding to internet ads for rental units, and findings show that gay male couples experience more discrimination than lesbian couples. That is right, Oliver hit it on the head- we can just ignore her. After all, we could spend not just this whole show, but hundreds of half-hours showing that Sarah Palin’s self-contradictory beliefs are nothing more than nonsense. However, the real fun in this episode was the segment that Bee did. In fact, she managed to do something that no one seems to have ever done on this show- and that is make one of these Christians actually admit that, when you point out that Christians aren’t being bullied or attacked makes them sound like they’re arrogant. Bee spoke to Preacher Matt Slick about the bullying that Christians undergo for speaking out against homosexuality. Bee noted that, after spending an afternoon with Slick, she found out just how tough it really izzzn’t. She noted that despite claims from Slick that there are Gays going out to beat up Christians, she couldn’t find a single incident. When B ...

More than one-in-ten Americans move each year and among young highly educated workers this percentage is far higher. This critical sub-set of the workforce tends to settle in communities where there is a diversity of ethnic groups and lifestyles, a vibrant street life including a broad range of music and art options and plentiful outdoor recreational opportunities. Also, since people are getting married at later ages and delaying having children, the traditional factors that drove people to the suburbs such as quality public schools and a house and a yard for ones’ family are less decisive. "The main similarity, which I will continue to propound is that the moral dilema that both pose is very similar," Jackson told conservative talk radio host Bryan Fischer. "The justification for slavery is in a sense the same as the justification for unfettered abortion, which is, the victim is not a real person, he's not a human being and therefore has no rights that we are bound to respect." Later, Jackson declined to back off his views of what Fischer said was "the normalization of homosexuality." "Part of this is really an attempt to deny us our First Amendment rights of freedom of religion," Jackson said. "Look, sure, people could debate about whether I've always said things as artfully as I might have. As a minister I say things to have an impact on people. To have them confront the truth which doesn't always work unfortunately in the political sphere but the truth is the truth," Jackson said. ...

Source: www.rightwingwatch.org --- Monday, June 17, 2013
Responding to the White House’s LGBT Pride celebration, Pastor Larry Tomczak in Charisma magazine maintained that Gays and their allies are putting America “on the path to destruction.” Tomczak writes that events which “brazenly celebrate, legitimize and promote the gay lifestyle in America” are part of the country’s “downward spiral” and gay “tsunami.” After the pastor shared a story about how his father-in-law, a veteran of World War II, confronted his church for not speaking out more aggressively against homosexuality, Tomczak drew parallels between Gays in America and Nazis in 1930s Germany: “It would do us well to recall that in Nazi Germany, only a small percentage of the people were part of the Nazi party. Amid the atrocities, the overwhelming majority were apathetic and afraid to speak up…. Is history repeating itself?” Observing the president of our United States on Thursday in the White House, kicking off the official celebration of "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Month," he was introduced by two 9-year-old girls celebrating their lesbian mothers. Flanked by a smiling Vice President Biden, President Obama then called out individuals with gay backgrounds amid applause. Finally, he reaffirmed his commitment to same-sex marriage and gay initiatives in America. This coincides with his administration releasing directives so that individuals will be forced to affirm homosexuality in the federal government. Remaining s ...

It has now been passed on to President Goodluck Jonathan to be signed into law, a scary proposition that international LGBT rights group All Out is trying to prevent. Watch above in this week’s “NewNowNext Minute” as Ryan Brockington breaks down Nigeria’s “Jail the Gays” bill, the ramifications this bill will have in Nigeria and around the globe, and what you can do to help. The first thing you can, and should, do? Head to All Out’s website and sign the petition to stop the bill from being signed into law. All Out is currently working closely with partner organizations in Nigeria to try and make sure this bill will not be signed by the country’s President. In response to a Washington Blade inquiry, the office of Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) confirmed on Monday that he’ll sign on as a co-sponsor to the bill. Ian Sams, a Carper spokesperson, said Carper is “signing on as a co-sponsor of ENDA.” “Sen. Carper believes it is important for federal law to explicitly prohibit workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation – in the same way that current law addresses race, sex or religion – in order to ensure that all Americans are protected equally under the law,” Sams added. Having a majority of the U.S. Senate on record supporting ENDA is good, but what ultimately matters is whether it becomes law. As we all know, it takes 60 votes to get anything done in the hopelessly dysfunctional Senate—having 51 co-sponsors isn't enough, by itself, for passage. Still, it's unusual for a bill to have this many co-sponors. Of the four bills signed into law this year that originated in the Senate, only the Violence Against Women Act had more co-sponors—61. As with most things, Congress is lagging behind the public, which strongly supports the principle of non-discrimination embodied in ENDA. Just today, Public Policy Polling released a poll showing 71 percent of North Carolinians believe that ...

Two men were arrested in January after a series of incidents in London saw members of the public harassed by self-styled vigilantes who posted footage of their activities online. One included a clip showing a man being subjected to homophobic abuse. The incidents are believed to be linked to a group claiming to be behind “Muslim patrols” of Whitechapel. In the latest video in which a group of men described themselves as “vigilantes implementing Islam upon your own necks”, a man is followed and told: “Get out of here you fag … Don’t stay around here any more.” His pursuers tell him that he is “walking through a Muslim area dressed like a fag.” Apparently the Muslim Patrol in the area continues to impact students and others in the area. In a Video represented below one such man admits to being a vigilante for Islam and when a passerby defends her rights saying: “this is Great Britain” the self described ‘Muslim vigilante’ responds: “This is NOT so Great Britain. We are vigilantes implementing Islam upon your necks.” This post represents the views and personal experience of the young Slovene born Israeli LGBT medical student in London, who is not named for reasons of safety and security: We need to talk about things we don’t want to talk about: by Anonymous Medical Student, June 17, 2013.
