TABUSINTAC, NEW BRUNSWICK — A recovery effort has resumed for two Fishermen missing off New Brunswick’s northeast coast. RCMP Const. Scott Messier says five search and rescue teams began combing shores for the men, aged 35 and 32, at 7 a.m. today. Messier says an RCMP underwater recovery team is also searching the area where their fishing boat capsized. A recovery effort continues today for two missing lobster Fishermen off the coast of New Brunswick. Their boat, operating out of Tabusintac, NB, issued a distress call at around 5:30 a.m. local time Saturday. Three crew members were on board when it capsized. The body of a 23-year-old fisherman was later found on a beach near where the fishing boat hit a sandbar in rough seas and began taking on water. The RCMP say a 35-year-old man from Tabusintac and a 32-year-old man from Brantville are still missing. A military search for the two was called off Saturday afternoon at around 4 p.m. AT, but crews resumed their search on Sunday morning. Workers are concentrating on the beach and the sandbar. They are also focusing on Neguac, south of Tabusintac in case the wind and currents moved the bodies. Crews from the military base CFB Gagetown are also aiding in the search effort. The team says the air is cold but the conditions are clear. The sandbar is about four kilometres from shore. Police said the vessel is still visible on the sandbar. ...

The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Halifax says the difficult decision was made around 3:45 p.m. after an exhaustive search of the area offshore of Tabusintac (ta-BOO’-sihn-ak). Spokesman Mike Bonin (BO-nin) says two Canadian Coast Guard vessels and a Cormorant helicopter from Greenwood, N.S., had done all they could to locate the two remaining crew members. Bonin says the matter has been turned over to the RCMP. Around 1:15 p.m., one fisherman was found dead near where the boat hit a sandbar in rough seas and began taking on water. Pakistan today announced it would free 51 Indian Fishermen who had completed their prison terms as a gesture of goodwill. "Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has decided to release 51 Indian Fishermen on humanitarian grounds as a gesture of goodwill. These prisoners have already served their sentences," said a statement from the caretaker premiers office. Khoso expressed the hope that the Indian government would reciprocate by freeing Pakistani prisoners. The statement did not say when the prisoners would be repatriated. The decision to release the Fishermen was made at a meeting attended by interim Law Minister Ahmer Bilal Soofi, caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Zahid Qurban Alvi and senior officials of the Interior, Foreign and Law Ministries and the Prime Ministers Secretariat. Khoso was informed that 482 Indian prisoners are currently in Pakistani jails while 496 Pakistanis are in Indian jails. He was also told that the Pakistan government was "awaiting the confirmation of national status of other Indian prisoners". The premier directed the Foreign Ministry to initiate dialogue with India for the release of Pakistani prisoners as well as the return of Indian prisoners.
