Maybe tomorrow I'll cut off the phone and ignore the doorbell. Here are some final items of the day: * Supreme Court accepts first case in thirty years involving public prayers at government meetings. Except the howling from the Christian Right to begin commencing momentarily. * The small world of former Romney '12 foreign policy advisors roiled by new ebook from colleague alleging chaos and indifference to substance. * Rep. Jason Chaffetz, deputy to Darrell Issa with primary responsibility for Benghazi! , dances around the "I-word," but won't dismiss it. * At Ten Miles Square, John Sides throws cold water on idea that 501(c)(4) controversy could lead to big-picture campaign finance reforms. * At College Guide, Daniel Luzer looks at Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design as school that combines high cost and almost no vocational value. And in non-political news: * Ray Manzarek , co-founder of The Doors, dies at 74, outliving Jim Morrison by more than three decades. I'll have a video tribute tomorrow morning. To close the day, here's Manfred Mann's Earth Band performing "Buddha" on German television in 1974. This tune was on the first album I bought to check out my very first real stereo system.
Watch The World End by Trace Adkins

Source: countrymusiclife.com --- Thursday, May 16, 2013
<img src="http://countrymusiclife.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Trace-Adkins-World-End.png" & width="150" & height="103" style="margin: 5pt 10px 0px 0px; float: left;" border="1" align="left" alt="" />Trace Adkins may have another hit on his hands. Trace Adkins is probably a little frustrated with how the last few years have gone at least in terms of his singles. It’s a different landscape in the music business today, but the fact remains that hits produce success just as they always have. The one thing Toby Keith’s record label has struggled with is getting hits for other artists other than Keith himself. Trace has had a few good hits and now he’s looking for another one. He might just have it. Watch The World End – Trace Adkins It’s interesting that this song comes out the same week as Trace’s new album. There is little buzz around this record, but maybe Trace is looking for the slow build this time. A hit song would certainly boost buzz and sales. Trace is one of the all time greats. The man does know how to find a hit and he might have a good one with this song. It’s about a guy that’s looking at the world around him. He’s seeing how things are going and he knows that someday the world will End even if it’s just for his own life. And after thinking about all the things he would do he realizes that all he would want to do is Watch it all End with the love of his life. It’s a good perspective. In the End you can’t really End love and that’s a powerful emotion for a song. Pop singer Colbie Caillat comes on board for the song. She has a great voice that does really well to add the harmonies on this song. It looks like Trace ha ...

End Of Watch - Blu-ray Review

Source: www.film-intel.com --- Monday, May 13, 2013
'Putting a camera in Brian's hands does very little extra for the film and switching between that and 'normal' modes of directing doesn't make a whole load of sense.' David Ayer may have been the writer behind Training Day , giving his latest directorial offering, End Of Watch , a great deal of positive heritage, but he is also the writer of S.W.A.T and the director of Street Kings , neither of which are hugely successful cop dramas. Which Ayer, the obvious questions runs, is going to show up in his latest? The answer is, inevitably, a touch of both personas although, happily, the Training Day side is on top for the most part. End Of Watch is a strangely modern affair, with the central conceit being that Brian (Jake Gyllenhaal) is absolutely stacked with technology in a bid to film his life as an L.A. cop. Alongside this sits Ayers' sometime-absent fondness for gritty realism. Occasionally the two jar off each other (whenever the Latino gang members, or anyone who conveniently happens to be filming themselves, show up) but most of the time this is a fairly happy marriage. That statement though ignores the obvious weirdness you have to deal with when being faced with a character constantly filming themselves, then stopping and another camera beyond the fourth wall taking over. End Of Watch keeps up its conceit of Brian's filming habit only when it absolutely needs to, with Ayers' own cameras taking over when an extra angle is needed. Yo ...

I won't get to travel to Atlanta to see my mother on Sunday, but hope you see yours, or at least think about her. And a big collective respectful "thanks" to those of you who are mothers your own selves. Here are a few final items of the day: * Leaving a very hot kitchen: Jason Richwine, author of the Heritage Foundation's increasingly infamous immigration policy report, resigns . * Glowing review in Wall Street Journal of performance by Greece's prime minister, Antonis Samaris, a center-right pol who leads a three-party coalition including centre-left and socialists. Article argues he's eclipsed leftist leader Alexis Tsipras, who was interviewed in the March/April issue of the Monthly . * TNR publishes fascinating report on D.C. think-tankers who are also lobbyists for private interests. * At Ten Miles Square, Seth Masket reports on Colorado Republican legislators who worked to craft legalized-marijuana regulations--then voted against them. * At College Guide, Daniel Luzer reports on the dubious practices of college endowments that are heavily invested in companies involved in student loan servicing and collections. And in sorta non-political news: * NBC cancels "Rock Center With Brian Williams," which got better reviews than ratings. OK, that's it for me this week. The World’s End will soon be unleashed in cinemas worldwide and luckily the film’s first trailer has arrived for your viewing pleasure! The World’s End is set 20 years after an unsuccessful attempt at a legendary pub crawl by five childhood friends. Determined to finish what they started, Gary King (Simon Pegg) rouses his friends and convinces them to return to their hometown to reach the much-fabled pub, The World’s End. The further they venture, the more they realise that The World’s End is an all-too-fitting name for their destination. Coming in at just under two minutes, the first trailer is in essence a short reminder of why British comedy (and British cinema) has still got shedloads to offer. Pegg’s Gary King is that rare beast it seems only Pegg can capture. He tells shitty jokes and obvious innuendos and his delivery nails it. We get a good introduction to all of the major players in the crew; Martin Freeman, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine and Eddie Marsan. The delightful Rosamund Pike rounds out the team as the local girl who fills in the lads on…well, what’s so bloody weird about their hometown now. Making the tiniest of cameos in the trailer are Reece Shearsmith and Mark Heap. Fans of Pegg and Frost will recognise them immediately. Much like Shaun and Fuzz, The World’s End as evide ...

The First Post to The World’s End. It sounds straightforward enough, but when Pegg and his mates return to their old stomping ground, things aren’t quite as they remember them. Were there as many alien / monster thingies knocking around last time? Judging by the look on our motley crew’s faces, we’d suggest not... Take a look at the new trailer, below... Video: Exclusive The World’s End Trailer It’s nice to see that Pegg and Nick Frost have swapped their traditional roles of straight-man and buffoon this time around, although as that fence gag pleasingly reminds us, some things never change... Directed by Wright and co-starring Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan and Rosamund Pike, The World’s End will open in the UK on 19 July 2013 before reaching the US on 23 August. ...

Then came Hot Fuzz in 2007. And soon, The World's End shall arrive. But before that happens later this summer, the very first trailer for the movie has been released, and is calling to you with songs of promised joy and laughter. None of the movies are actually related, but they all belong to the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy (also known as the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy)---a trio of movies from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Ant Man director Edgar Wright that all star Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as the leads, and all involve a little bit of blood and a little bit of ice cream. Each movie uses a specific flavor of Cornetto ice cream that fits the movie: Shaun of the Dead using a red strawberry flavor for blood and such (you've got red on you); Hot Fuzz using the original (blue) Cornetto for the police; and The World's End will use the mint chocolate chip flavor, possibly signifying aliens or some kind of invasion or perhaps the result of far too much drinking. Now, join with me in uncontrollable excitement as we continue below to Watch (and re-Watch) the first trailer for The World's End !
