A British Airways plane was forced to make an Emergency landing at Heathrow as eyewitnesses reported seeing the aircraft “on fire” flying over central London. The plane was evacuated and none of the passengers or crew have been injured. Heathrow airport have confirmed that both runways had been closed as a result of an incident, which happened around 9am. Both the north and south runway have now reopened. Amateur video footage of the incident shows smoke coming from one of the aircraft engines. There was speculation that the aircraft had run into a flock of birds. The incident is not thought to be terror related. BA said the flight, BA762, which was headed to Oslo returned to Heathrow following a technical fault. The company said they will be carrying out a full investigation. The aircraft was a British Airways Airbus A319 and was carrying 75 customers. London Fire Brigade tweeted: “One crew from Heathrow fire station is assisting Heathrow Airport’s fire service with an aircraft fire. “We believe the fire is now out.” Both runways have now reopened. Passengers on resumed flights at Heathrow were being warned to expect delays of 30-60 minutes as well as 30 minutes of aircraft taxiing time. Eyewitnesses described seeing smoke billowing from the plane, with the right engine on fire. (Via BBC ) Cars and passengers fell into Washington state’s Skagit River when part of the Interstate 5 bridge in collapsed Thursday. State troopers say both the northbound and southbound portions of the bridge collapsed at around 7 p.m. local time. No one was killed in the collapse, and three people were rescued.
