They had to demonstrate the band had a reason to exist, and Black Gives Way to Blue achieved this goal, paving the way for another record just like it. Enter The Devil Put the Dinosaurs Here , a record that is pretty close to identical to Black Gives Way to Blue in its sound, attack, and feel. Where it differs is in the latter, as the overall album feels lighter and, at times, the individual songs do, too. “Scalpel” flirts with the acoustic bones of Jar of Flies and also has perhaps the richest melody here, working as a song, not a grind. That said, there is an appeal to that monochromatic churn, the kind… 320 kbps | 155 MB | UL | CL | MC ** FLAC …AIC created on Dirt and haven’t let go of since. The lightness comes not from the songs — the tempos still drag their feet, the guitars mine a minor key, the harmonies are in fifths so they sound like power chords — but rather from the precision of the band’s attack and, especially, the production. This has a digital sheen that was missing even from Black Gives Way to Blue, and it gives the album an expansive feel, so the patented churn doesn’t seem quite so claustrophobic as before. Then again, perhaps that expansiveness is just a sign of age: Alice in Chains are now firmly entrenched in their mid ...

John Shoff of the Dino Arts Committee confirmed with The Drumheller Mail that the Calgary Zoo has agreed to give the committee its collection of prehistoric beasts from its Prehistoric Park. “We have the green light from the Calgary Zoo to get all of their Dinosaurs,” said Shoff. “I went to the board (Dino Arts), and they also have given us the green light to have them.” Dinosaurs have been a part of the Calgary Zoo for decades. In 1937, the Natural History Park was officially opened as 120-ton “Dinny the Dinosaur” was completed, according to the Calgary Zoo website. The collection of Dinosaurs continued to evolve and change as new ones were added. In the early 1980s, the Prehistoric Park was opened. In April, the Calgary Zoo unveiled its vision for the future. It sees the re-addition of polar bears and orangutans, and the elimination of the Dinosaurs, save for the famous Dinny. The rest of the models could be on their way to Drumheller. Shoff says this is the long-term plan. “It is likely going to take about five years; by the time they are ready for us to take them, and for us to prepare to get them and arranging ship- ping,” said Shoff. “The town is on board and the mayor is very excited about it.” It may be a logistical challenge, as a number of the Dinosaurs are made of concrete and steel. Some are also fibergl ...

Midway through its Kickstarter campaign, The Stomping Land has already nearly tripled its modest $20K goal. How did three guys with placeholder graphics obtain so much funding? The answer: ideas. The Stomping Land is ambitious. The dinosaur hunting concept may recall Monster Hunter, but this is a harsher, more competitive multiplayer world along the lines of DayZ. You see, food is difficult to obtain. Hunting smaller dinos isn't that difficult, but with gargantuan predators roaming the countryside, they're sure to smell fresh blood and come a-runnin'. To ward them off you'll have to either set traps, create distractions, or slaughter enough herbivores that you can reclaim your meat while a T-Rex is busy munching on its mum. Apparently there are also six hidden “easter eggs,” including ponies, Dinosaurs, and the ability to change the background of the chat window. Google employee Moritz Toxdorff posted the above image on his Google+ account, which explains how to use them. All you need to do to experience the magic is type in your desired code into the chat window, and press enter.
