If you're Vic Darchinyan, what do you want to do? Two daunting but attractive options could be presenting themselves for a fall return. If you're Darchinyan, do you: Fight 122-pound ruler Guillermo Rigondeaux, who just peaked with a huge win over Nonito Donaire, or; Look to secure a long-desired rematch with Nonito Donaire, who knocked you out six years ago and took your undefeated record? Darchinyan is rumored to be Rigondeaux's next opponent , a move many saw coming when the 37-year-old, two-division titlist signed with Top Rank, but he's still got a strong hankering to get revenge against Donaire , too: "Of course I'd love to fight (Donaire). ... I know he's planning to return. I'm here, ready and willing. I want to finally get my revenge." Darchinyan (37-5-1, 23 KO) has won two straight and put himself back into position for higher-end fights. In his last two bouts, he's served as a supposed stepping stone for prospect Luis Orlando Del Valle, which Darchinyan used as an opportunity to get himself back in the mix, and then beat Javier Gallo in a tune-up fight. Donaire (31-2, 20 KO) had planned to sit out until later in the year to help wife Rachel with the arrival of their first child, and there has been some expectation that he won't fight again until perhaps December. Man, if Darchinyan (with his almost total lack of defence and adaptability) is stupid enough to get in with a technician like Rigondeaux; then let him. BoxingScene.com is reporting that a fall fight between Guillermo Rigondeaux and Vic Darchinyan is a possibility , as Rigondeaux's manager Gary Hyde says the fight will happen in September or October. Rigondeaux (12-0, 8 KO) soundly defeated Nonito Donaire in April to unify the WBA and WBO super bantamweight titles, and take his seat at the pound-for-pound table. The 32-year-old Cuban amateur legend has fully arrived as a professional, with his win over Donaire silencing any remaining skeptics. While he may not be the most exciting fighter, he's proven his ability, and no one doubts that anymore. Darchinyan (39-5-1, 28 KO) has won two straight fights, and recently signed with Top Rank , who co-promote Rigondeaux. The 37-year-old Armenian veteran finally made it to HBO last year (having previously been a mainstay during the Shawtime era of Showtime boxing), beating prospect Luis Orlando Del Valle over 10 rounds. He made his Top Rank debut on May 11 in Texas, easily beating veteran Javier Gallo. The fight being possible -- or even probable -- is no surprise. There are only so many available fighters at 122 pounds for Rigondeaux, whose fights pretty much have to be on HBO now, and Darchinyan still has name value for a 122-pound fighter.
