Happy that Cub is starting to get the recognition he deserves. He will be fighting at UFC 162 against Dennis Siver and with a win it will be tough denying him a title shot, but at the very least he should get a number one contender fight. Still he has a tough test in Dennis Siver who has looked great as off late. UFC 162 should be a great card with some very meaningful fights in the featherweight division. Two big featherweight bouts booked for UFC 162 Cub Swanson goes to Coachella ...

One thing he spoke of during that interview, was his negative opinion of MMA gloves, and he went into detail of exactly why they are, in his opinion, 'crap'. Here's what he had to say: I think MMA gloves are crap, to be honest. First off, they're square. When they give them to you, they're a square piece of 4 ounce glove. They say that they're open fingered so you can grapple, and then you can close your hand to punch. I believe the gloves should be rounder, because we hit from weird angles. If you relax your hand, the way the gloves are now, the natural position is for the hand to be completely open, which is why so many people get poked in the eye. If they were curved, and you put them on and relaxed your hand, your hand would follow the curve, not completely open. You'd only have to squeeze a little bit to make a fist with a more curved glove. It's a balance that's missing with the current gloves. The padding, instead of just falling off at the sides, should follow the curve of the hand more. When we get the gloves, the UFC tries to help out by sort of curving the gloves for you overnight. You also have to kind of stretch them out a little bit, because they're brand new and stiff ...

Source: www.bjpenn.com --- Friday, April 26, 2013
<img src="http://www.bjpenn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/390x270xCub-swanson-new-site.jpg.speedilic.ic_.Ck9a3aa3Ni.jpg" & width="150" & height="104" style="margin: 5pt 10px 0px 0px; float: left;" border="1" align="left" alt="" />On April 28 th Cub Swanson will take on Dennis Siver in a Featherweight battle on the UFC 159 card in Las Vegas, NV. Before that happens he took some time out of his training camp to talk with the guys over at BJPENN.COM Radio about being overlooked, title shots, and his current win streak. One of the best Featherweight fighters in the world right now Cub Swanson has been on a tear in the UFC. Winner of his last four fights, three by way of TKO/KO, Swanson was hoping to get a title shot after his last win over Dustin Poirier at UFC on FUEL TV 7. When asked about expecting the title shot Swanson replied, “I did, but the one thing plaguing me is the loss to [Ricardo] Lamas.” The fight with Lamas took place on the very first Fox card. The only fight aired that night was the Main Event between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos. The fact is though everyone who did see it saw Swanson in control for the entire fight until the middle of the second round. “It really grinds [me] because I was beating on him until I got caught in that submission,” said Swanson. Unfortunately for Swanson he will have to wait even longer for that title shot as the winner of Lamas/Jung is expected to get the next shot after Anthony Pettis. This does not sit with the Team Jackson fighter. “I thought I have been fighting the toughest guys and putting them away,” said Swanson. “Just keep trying to win fights and waiting for my turn.” What frustrates Swanson th ...
