Anyone can jump in at any time, and you don't have to have one persistent persona. You can post from any perspective you like - the liege, their heir, a foreign noble, or a foul-mouthed peasant, so long as it is more or less appropriate to the setting (I know very little about this period of history, so being historically accurate is less important than sounding vaguely medieval-y). If you need to post out-of-character, put it behind a spoiler tag. According to wikipedia, the noble I chose is notable only for getting himself killed invading England shortly after the game's start date, so alternate history will begin almost instantly. Feel free to suggest anything you like as we go along. The reason the start of this thread looks so weird is because this is a repost of a previous thread which suffered some technical difficulties. Basically, I posted the images in the wrong format, and had to start from scratch. Warriors of Jylland, listen well. I know you and you know me. Many of you have hunted beside me.

Source: www.impulsedriven.com --- Monday, June 10, 2013
The Dark Ages might be drawing to a close, but Europe is still in turmoil. Petty lords vie against beleaguered Kings who struggle to assert control over their fragmented realms. The Pope calls for a Crusade to protect the Christians in the Holy Land even as he refuses to relinquish control over the investiture of bishops - and their riches. Now is the time for greatness. Expand your demesne and secure the future of your dynasty. Fill your coffers, appoint vassals, root out traitors and heretics, introduce laws and interact with hundreds of nobles, each with their own agenda. A good lord will always need friends to support him. But beware, as loyal vassals can quickly turn to bitter rivals, and some might not be as reliable as they seem... Stand ready, and increase your prestige until the world whispers your name in awe. Do you have what it takes to become a Crusader King? Crusader Kings II explores one of the defining periods in world history in an experience crafted by the masters of Grand Strategy. Medieval Europe is brought to life in this epic game of knights, schemes, and thrones... IMPORTANT: This game requires the Steam Client to install & play ...

This expansion adds a new start date (867) and the ability to play as pagans. Pagan nations have a number of new rules: raids, provincial conquest and invasions, forced gavelkind succession, and special events like human sacrifice. All nations now can also spawn adventurers, existing characters that go after specific targets like a claim on a province. Everyone also gets an overhauled technology system: points are generated according to nobility character stats and buildings placed in your provinces. Lastly, rebellions are now given a leader with an objective. Overall, the new features of The Old Gods add just enough variety to the existing game to justify the $15 investment if you plan to focus on the pagan nations and the earlier start date. ...

Source: realmsbeyond.net --- Tuesday, June 04, 2013
Hello Realms Beyond! I'm going to try something a little different here. Crusader Kings 2 has already seen a walkthrough at this site, a most excellent thing that sadly I cannot find since the forum transfer. But rather than copy it exactly, I wanted to create something that captured the story-telling possibilities of CK2. One thing that I love about Dwarf Fortress that Crusader Kings 2 also does well is give you a complex world of many characters that interact with each other in surprising and interesting ways. For me these games are not so much about "winning" as they are the stories you find as you play. With that in mind, I'm going to try doing a Crusader Kings 2: The Old Gods walkthrough that focuses less on the nuts and bolts and more on telling a story surrounding the characters. This was inspired, in part, by a number of the excellent After Action Reports (AARs) found on Paradox's CK2 AAR Forum . In particular, I was much taken in by a walkthrough of playing as the King of Abyssinia. If you have any experience playing CK2, you know that Abyssinia almost always meets a sure and swift death at the hands of the Sunni Muslims. And this game is no exception, except he finds a way to hold on, and while the in-game accomplishments may not amount to much, the story telling is wonderful. Here's a link , and I highly recommend it. So, thusly inspired, and doubly inspired by the recent release of The Old Gods expansion, I will be att ...
