The Vampire Diaries’ Claire Holt attended the 2013 CW Upfronts and posted a few photos of herself and co-stars Joseph Morgan and Charles Michael on May 21. For one snapshot she wrote: “Behind the scenes of The Originals.” The Originals is the upcoming spinoff show of Diaries and has Claire returning as Rebekah Mikaelson on The CW drama. Holt visited Allure magazine’s offices to talk about the show, plus fashion and beauty. Wetpaint reports she shared her beauty routine. “I use Cetaphil to wash my face. It’s really classic and clean. Then I like to use oils, like coconut oil, on my face. And a moisturizer with sunscreen in the morning.” As for guilty pleasures it’s “chocolate.” She explained, “Chocolate is really a problem. I’m trying to be healthy right now, so I’ll eat carob carob chips, which are kind of like chocolate. The costume designer, Leigh Leverett told EW that the dress was a “quintessential prom dress” and that’s exactly what Rebekah would want to wear. Something big, poof, and with a full ball gown! I have to admit, the only thing I have an issue with is the bright yellow color…but maybe that’s because I don’t think I can ever pull off yellow. What do you think? Are you loving this dress on Rebekah? I actually love the hair that Rebekah has here. It’s very Veronica Lake, and got a smooth wave to it. What are your thoughts on Vampire Diaries fans finally getting the chance to see the potential new series? Claire Holt: Of course. I was beyond excited to be able to continue this journey as Rebekah and continue working with Daniel [Gillies], Joseph and [executive producer] Julie [Plec]. It’s been a process; it’s been a long time coming. I’m very excited to see the hard work pay off. THR: We saw a glimpse of Klaus in New Orleans, so how does Rebekah play into that world? Holt: In The Originals, she’s faced with the decision to follow her brother or stay in Mystic Falls. She’s always been loyal to Klaus and she values family above all else, and I think it’s a really hard one for her because she has been betrayed by him, she is disappointed in him and is hurting still. That journey in this pilot will revolve around her decision to follow him, help him and remain loyal to the family or leave them behind. THR: Will we see her in New Orleans at some point? Holt: I’m not sure that’s something I can give away. There will definitely be conversations with Elijah about whether or not Rebekah will come and join them.
