Indeed, in the 1956 classic “ Forbidden Planet ,” starring Walter Pidgeon , Anne Francis , and Leslie Nielsen , there is a robot that has a sort of miniature 3D food printer built into its torso. I couldn’t find a clip showing that from the actual film, but I did find this promotional short in which the robot explains how it is able to replicate food of any kind, in any amount. All that is needed is a small sample of the food — which I suppose makes it more of a 3D food copier than printer. But whatever. I thought I’d share it. Also, I refer you to a story Burl brought to our attention , about how a 3D printer saved a baby’s life. This is just astounding technology… Robbie the Robot, a pre-comedy Leslie Nielsen, and pre-”Honey West” Anne Francis (who showed her gams a LOT in this one). ...

Source: forums.1911forum.com --- Thursday, May 23, 2013
Greetings to all, I was looking for a little help about this gun. It's been in my family since 1964. And it hasn't seen the light of day since the mid-80's. Dad told us he pawned it, for a canon camera back in the 80's! After mom told him to "Get that thing outta my house!". He just passed and in a box that he left for me, was a pouch and in was this super 38, and a note... Threw away the box, not the gun! Sneaky bastard! I also know it hasn't been fired since my father purchased it. I don't know if it was fired prior to 1964. After doing a little research, I believe, it was manufactured in 1948 which makes it an early post war gun and one of the first manufactured with the two tone slide. I don't know how many were made in Nickel during this time, but I'm sure it can't be to many and I'm sure that there aren't many in this condition. I'm sure the sights are an after-market piece, but still a niffty bit of craftsmanship! The sights were put on somewhere between 1948 and 1964. I want to shoot this beast SOOO bad... but... Thanks in advance for any advise/responses Attached Images colt10.jpg (98.8 KB) colt5.jpg (91.9 KB) colt3.jpg (85.1 KB) colt6.jpg (85.3 KB) colt9.jpg (82.8 KB) ...
