“MSNBC Chris Matthews Fired” became a popular search engine result late Tuesday evening. But is Chris Matthew being fired by MSNBC merely another trends hiccup or a conservative dream struggling to find life in reality? Reports of MSNBC seeing Chris Matthews fired or canceled apparently started back in April of this year. Various websites claimed the Chris Matthews Show was canceled outright. But what these websites failed to highlight is that Chris Matthew was not fired or canceled , he was simply shifting to a different schedule. Chris Matthews signed a long-term contract with NBC, while canceling his weekend program. What Chris Matthews actually announced was this: “I want “Hardball” fans to know that I’m signing a long-term contract with MSNBC to carry on a show we started back in 1997 based on a book I wrote in 1988. … The one adjustment I’m making is to pull back from the weekend “Chris Matthews Show.” There are limits to what I can do in a week. Henceforth, I intend to concentrate any time left over from “Hardball” on writing books.” The other topic that may have led to the “MSNBC Chris Matthews Fired” trends hiccup is the firing of Phil Donahue. C hris Matthews Show Cancelled Chris Matthews SUNDAY PROGRAM, THE Chris Matthews SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED. The final episode will run on July 21 to a viewership of Chris Matthews TiVo. The idea that Chris Matthew could compete with the venerable Sunday line up with what is described as a DC-based public affairs program named after Chris Matthews was ridiculous; but such is NBC and the world of Liberalia. In what other media described as the long running show, was little more than NBC throwing lots of crap against the wall, hoping it would stick. For those who might wonder, MSNBC has renewed Matthews Hardball , but then again what else can they do. MSNBCs slogan should be All Obama All the time! Matthews says that he was forced to abandon a syndicated column in order to host The Chris Matthews Show in 2002. I will miss having the weekend show just as I missed having the column, but I cant do everything and still do what I have to do well, Matthews concludes. In a segment on Matthew’s “Hardball,” the cable host screened a new National Rifle Association ad attacking Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and asserted, “The gun people, they think about nothing else. And they never change their minds, never change their attitudes and never change the frickin’ subject.” As Matthew’s mingled with Ron Reagan, the anchor mocked: “How do you keep an interest among normal people that keeps up with that intense, almost, well, obsession that the gun people have?” The new NRA commercial features clips of Michael Bloomberg and Barack Obama. It’s no secret that MSNBC is at the bottom of the ratings barrel when it comes to cable news, but are they “desperate” for ratings? Fox News pundit and rival Bill O’Reilly thinks so. O’Reilly slammed MSNBC and host Chris Matthews on Thursday for the latter’s comment that Senator Ted Cruz has a “black Irish look.” Matthews’ use of the term refers to Irish people with dark features. Of course if you’ve ever watched “Hardball,” you know that its host has a penchant for putting his foot in his mouth .
