And I’ll tell you who: John Lee ‘Sonny Boy’ Williamson , Aaron ‘T-Bone’ Walker , Marion ‘Little Walter’ Jacob and Riley ‘B.B.’ King .” On May 14, Blind Pig Records releases Remembering Little Walter , a tribute album to the Chicago blues harmonica player, featuring some of the best in the business. Billy Boy Arnold, Charlie Musselwhite , Sugar Ray Norcia , James Harman and Mark Hummel have come together to give the hamonica genius’s name a well deserved boost. AUDIO Listen to the full album stream of Remembering Little Walter until May 21. West Coast harp master Hummel is the leader of this live concert recording. Since 1991, Hummel has been promoting an ongoing series of reviews dubbed the Blues Harmonica Blowout. The Blowout that resulted in Remembering Little Walter happened on Dec. 6, 2012, at Anthology in San Diego. Sonny Boy Williamson is often noted as the harmonica player who brought the instrument to prominence in blues. However, it was Little Walter who many claim took the harp to a whole new level. As Hummel notes on the Blind Pig site, "Walter changed all the rules and raised the bar so high that nobody has yet surpassed him either in innovation or technical prowess.” Related: Blues Harmonica Greats Ben Harper enlists talents of Charlie ...

They're in NYC tonight, their new album is 'Get Up!,' and from a great hang FUV's Eric Holland had with the guys at Avatar Studios, you can hear that magic live. ...

Voir : BEN HARPER (avec CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE) à Morning Becomes Eclectic (KCRW)

Source: www.blogg.org --- Monday, April 29, 2013

<img src="http://blogs.kcrw.com/musicnews/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/15-1024x682.jpg" & width="150" & height="109" style="margin: 5pt 10px 0px 0px; float: left;" border="1" align="left" alt="" />The great thing about blues music is the open format it creates for jamming. Some of the all time great blues songs are a collection of talented musicians jamming and riffing off one another, taking their turns doing their thing. When Morning Becomes Eclectic welcomed Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite , the soul of blues music was palpable. Ben’s classic guitar riffs and perfect timing accompanied by his strong and pained voice folded seemelssly with Charlie’s harmonica. The setting for the show was in the KCRW studio , but it might have well been a blues bar off a back street in Memphis. The truly impressive thing about these two playing together is that they become a collection of artists instead of a sum of their parts. This isn’t your “Fight For Your Mind” Ben Harper playing with a blues guy. Instead they are two great blues musicians whose sound is familiar yet unique. Check out the single from the session “We Can’t End This Way” but the entire set is fantastic and worth your time . Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite on KCRW – Set List Get Up! We Can’t End This Way Don’t Look Twice I’m In I’m Out And I’m Gone You Found Another Lover (I Lost Another Friend) All That Matters Now I Ride At Dawn Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite ...
