I just came from a luncheon thrown by one of Chicago-area’s most adored, feminist, liberal congresswomen, Jan Schakowsky. The keynote speaker was Cecile Richards, the daughter of Texas Governor Anne Richards and the president of the national Planned Parenthood. She was a terrific speaker and so motivating. She gave a total shout out to social media and Tumblr specifically, accrediting Tumblr for making photos viral like the Senate Committee of specialists on birth control/women’s health issues that had 0 women on it. Anyway, good job, Tumblr. That all helped save funding for Planned Parenhood. (Who, by the way, got more than a million new donors after that that whole defunding debacle.) ...
