The Cardiss Collins Project contacted 7 chciago museums that, in 1990, were present at a hearing where they had been asked to commit to recruiting and maintaining people of color employees given the historical exclusion of non whites from the museum and exhibition field. They testified they WOULD commit to this and would improve the representation of non whites in senior level positions. This was 1990. Cardiss project contacted all 7 of them this year to check in to see if they had made good on their word. Nothin had improved. These are some of the numbers. Ranges from 100% white (!!!!!!!) to 81% (the most “diversified”. 81% is not diverse.) CHICAGO, a city that is majority people of color! These museums we bring our kids, classes, and fams to! A shame.
