On the one hand, he thought Piers Morgan went “flaccid” when faced with White House Press Secretary Jay Carney last night. On the other, he applauded Bob Woodward for admitting that there are parallels between Benghazi and Watergate. Describing the “love affair” between President Obama and most of the press, Gutfeld said, “the media has to wonder why the only entity the White House cares about is Fox News. For a non-Fox reporter that means you are a pushover. Obama can have you any time he likes, and he’s about to have you now. Be sure and wear that nighty he likes so much and don’t talk, he hates that.” Kimberly Guilfoyle also praised Woodward for recognizing the scandal in the Benghazi story. “I think this is something this administration should be genuinely ashamed of. And the problem is, they act like spoiled brats. It’s never their fault, it’s never their responsibility, it’s always someone else.” Taking on Morgan’s interview with Carney, Eric Bolling thought perhaps he could have done better, urging the press secretary to do a one-on-one interview with him. “I’d love to just give you a couple of minutes, we’ll clear the air,” he said. “ask you a couple of questions that Piers probably didn’t ask you.” “Well, with an invitation like that…” Dana Perino replied ...

It’s a very serious issue. As people keep saying, four people were killed.” The corporate media has indeed done everything they can to make the Benghazi scandal as partisan as possible and in doing so they have made it a Republican Vs. Democrat issue when it should be a non partisan issue uncovering the facts of how four Americans died. This is not a political game, it is a matter of life and death. And I hate to show [holds up document] — this is one of the documents with the editing that one of the people in the State Department said oh let's not let these things out — and I have to go back 40 years to Watergate when Nixon put out his edited transcripts of the conversations. And he personally went through them and said "Let's not tell this, let's not show this." I would not dismiss Benghazi. It's a very serious issue. When I saw the headline , I thought maybe Woodward was making an interesting point about how Republicans planting stories based on false email quotes shows that the era of GOP dirty tricks isn't over. But then I watched the video and realized he was actually talking about the emails that had been released in full by the Obama administration. To compare transcripts of secret tape recordings personally edited by the president in middle of a scandal to the editing process for talking points being written for a Democratic congressman and a cabinet official about to go on a Sunday talk show is just completely insane. There is no comparison. It's not even close. Woodward's comparison is even loopier when you consider the fact that his whole argument depends on the claim that ...

There's no small irony to Woodward injecting himself into what has become a scandal driven by deceptively edited emails passed off to reporters, given the recent attention he received after using a similar method to support his ridiculous accusation that a White House aide threatened him. In his latest attempt to jump into the debate on the side of the right wing, Woodward demonstrates a striking lack of familiarity with the basic facts of what happened. Here's what Woodward said during his May 17 appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe , and what's wrong with those statements. Woodward: You were talking earlier about kind of dismissing the Benghazi issue as one that's just political and the president recently said it's a sideshow.
