So here's the deal. Since the Z10 has been released, I have used several different Z10 units (probably 7 or 8... I lost count) across four different carriers, and I have never once experienced a random reboot on my Z10 . The same goes for all of the members of the CrackBerry editorial team - there have been very few mentions of the phone randomly rebooting for no reason. However, if you jump into CrackBerry's crazy busy BlackBerry Z10 forums , you will find a LOT of discussion around owners experiencing their Z10 randomly restarting, either during the day, or during the night while it's on the charger. For some, it seems to be a once per week thing. For others, it's happening daily. It felt like the reboot issue has most-often been reported by users on Verizon - to be certain, the reports in the forums do seem disproportionately high for Verizon Z10 owners compared to other carriers, but as you dive through the forum threads it is an issue that is definitely reported by at least some users across carriers around the globe. Pdair Flip Top Case for BlackBerry Z10 - Sleep function not working?

I recently purchased a Pdair flip top case for my BlackBerry Z10, which is advertised as having a built in magnet to sleep device to save battery life. I bought this case with confidence, as I had previously purchased a Pdair case for my last mobile phone. This was a BlackBerry Torch and that phone went to sleep as soon as the flip top came within a few millimeters of the screen. However, although my new case was made to the same high standard, it didn't cause my Z10 to sleep. My phone did go to sleep after a while, as it did without a case. So I contacted my supplier, who sent me a replacement but this was the same. They say they've sold lots of these cases for the Z10, but had no other complaints, and are awaiting a response from Pdair. So is it a faulty batch of cases? Does the Z10 have this function, or is there something wrong with my Z10? ...

If you're feeling the blues now that BlackBerry Live is over and looking for a bit of excitement for the weekend, you can check out this freshly leaked BlackBerry Z10 OS from lbfe! Please note, this leak is not for all devices. This time it's just the STL100-2 & 3 getting some love so if you don't have one of those then you'll want to move along. If the last OS leak didn’t work for you check out the latest leak for the Z10 model STL100-2 & 3. The latest leak lbfe over at CB Forums is version 10.1.0.1880 a bit higher than what is being released officially. LBFE says the battery life is much better on this one. I have not installed it yet and hopefully it is true as I am having the worst battery drained after loading BBM Channels. Will install and report back to you later. When CNet editor and reviewer Brian Bennett lost his "lovely HTC One test unit" while traveling, he was forced to use the other test phone he brought with him, a BlackBerry Z10. He expected to be miserable missing out on Google Drive, Google Talk , Google Now and other Android apps. But he was shocked at how much he liked the phone, once he was set up with Google Apps for Business. ("It requires you to configure your Gmail as an exchange account.") He particularly liked BlackBerry Hub ("made missing important communiques very difficult") and the long battery life. He was less pleased with having to give up Netflix and Instagram and he struggled with a not-always intuitive gesture system. Still, after actually using it as a daily device, he liked it, though he's not quite ready to ditch the HTC One, with its bigger screen and Android apps. "My key takeaways from this experience are; the Z10 is a smoothly operating and highly functional smartphone which is particularly adept at mastering your messages. Also, as I expected from a BlackBerry device, the Z10's virtual keyboard is fast, accurate, and a joy to type with." BlackBerry announced this week that the BlackBerry 10.1 OS will be rolling out to its BlackBerry Z10 mobile phones , placing it in line with the Q10 – which shipped with that platform. Omio is now publishing hands-on pictures of the new OS, running from the flagship full touch screen handset, in the company’s portfolio. The first image shows that BlackBerry 10.1 is actually running on the device, with its array of new features. Formerly Research In Motion, now known as BlackBerry’s Managing Director of UK & Ireland at BlackBerry, Rob Orr has responded to our questioning on the feasibility of a more affordable version of the Z10 arriving – under the name of Z5 . We asked if there would be a Z5, as a cut down version of the Z10 – in the same way as the Q5 is a cut down version of the Q10. Rob Orr responded “ You are in that roadmap territory ”, indicating he couldn’t really speak about that. He did add, “ We have said six devices, from launch, but no specifics beyond that ” “ [There will be] six devices in due course; we’re looking to address all the segments in the market ” “ Starting with the high-end, which was delivered in Q1 ” That isn’t a categorical denied and logic dictates that if the Q5 is budget version of the Q10, why couldn’t there be a budget version of the Z10. BlackBerry switched from using a Super AMOLED display in the Q10, to an IPS LCD version in the Q5 – while still keeping the same 3.1-inch screen size, and display resolution of 720 x 720. There was also a reduction of internal memory, from 16GB to 8GB and the megapixel count was brought down from 8 to 5MP.
