            <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;font color="Gray"&gt;Source: www.guardian.co.uk --- Friday, May 24, 2013&lt;/font&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next Wednesday sees &lt;b&gt;BAFTA&lt;/b&gt; hosting a panel discussion on games writing as well as the results of the Thumbstar Games Journalism Prize – we have tickets to give away With a new generation of games consoles on the way, the industry is going to be under huge scrutiny over the next five months. But are specialist journalists doing enough to really investigate the major publishers and manufacturers? And what are the skills needed to write compelling and revealing long-form features on the games industry? These are two of the questions set to be tackled at a special &lt;b&gt;BAFTA&lt;/b&gt; event on Wednesday night. I'll be chairing a discussion on games writing, talking to veteran journalists Jon Hicks (Official Xbox Magazine), Guy Cocker (ex-editor, IGN UK), Leigh Alexander (Gamasutra, Edge, Kotaku) and Kieron Gillen (Rock Paper Shotgun) about the challenges facing the games media. The last year has seen some major controversies in gaming journalism, but there are also huge possibilities for the sector. And with the next consoles aiming to take commanding positions in the living room entertainment set-up, it's a pretty important time to be considering how to cover the games industry in general. One of the most exciting bits of news to emerge from our annual conference is that acclaimed British drama Last Tango in Halifax will be coming to a PBS station near you this Fall! The series, which just won the 2013 &lt;b&gt;BAFTA&lt;/b&gt; Award for Best Drama last weekend , has been quite popular in the UK , ranking as one of 2012’s top ten highest rated dramas. The six-part series stars Sir Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid as childhood sweethearts Alan and Celia, who are both now widowed and in their 70s. The two rediscover one another via the magic of the internet and fall in love all over again. It also stars Nicola Walker , Tony Gardner, Dean Andrews and Nina Sosanya , among others. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (&lt;b&gt;BAFTA&lt;/b&gt;) will celebrate half a century of Doctor Who during tonight’s prestigious British Academy Television Awards. Jenna Coleman (Clara) will present one of the evening’s awards and a celebratory video montage featuring moments from the show’s history will be included as part of the ceremony. Amanda Berry OBE, Chief Executive of &lt;b&gt;BAFTA&lt;/b&gt;, said, ‘There are only a handful of programmes that have the quality and longevity of Doctor Who and the ability to put the nation on their sofas – or indeed behind them – year after year. &lt;b&gt;BAFTA&lt;/b&gt; raises a toast to Doctor Who on its 50th birthday this year.’ Steven Moffat, Doctor Who’s lead writer and executive producer, commented, ‘This is a massive and exciting year for Doctor Who, so I’m thrilled that &lt;b&gt;BAFTA&lt;/b&gt; are including a special tribute to the show.
