Shocking Discovery: Police Find Drugs, Money & Assault Rifles Inside East Baltimore Home

Source: baltimore.cbslocal.com --- Thursday, May 23, 2013
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police raid an East Baltimore home looking for drugs, but what they find inside is much scarier. An arsenal of weapons, including three Assault Rifles, and bulletproof vests. Kai Jackson has more on the shocking discovery. Police say what they found inside that East Baltimore house had the potential for a violent ending. Baltimore police raided a house Tuesday night in the 100 block of North Kenwood Avenue. Officers say they seized guns, drugs and money inside the East Baltimore home. “It happened through an undercover investigation where detectives bought in an undercover capacity narcotics out of this house,” said Anthony Guglielmi, Baltimore Police Department. Police arrested 29-year-old Fransico Milos and 29-year-old Lynnie Lewis, who live in the home. Police say Milos is a convicted felon from Florida, and prohibited from owning guns. Officers say the guns, drugs and money were evidence of a drug operation. But the discovery of 7.500 rounds of ammunition had detectives concerned that something more sinister was in the works. “It’s troublesome to hear that someone would have this type of weaponry in their homes while selling drugs. Also equipped with bulletproof vest equipment,” said Guglielmi. When asked why he was so heavily armed, police say Milos told them: “He was preparing for the war.” Police say Milos had three handguns, three Rifles, including an AR-15 style, and one shotgun. They also recovered bod ...

Source: www.cbs2iowa.com --- Wednesday, May 08, 2013
MARION, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Marion police officers are starting to work with their new semi-automatic weapons. "Probably a dozen have been trained so far, so they can take theirs out now," Chief Harry Daugherty said. The department ordered the AR-15s back in January -- 32 of them -- after the city council approved the purchase. It adds up to a little more than $60,000 that the city is paying. Chief Daugherty pushed for the Assault Rifles after a string of active shooter situations. He said, with just a shotgun and pistol, his officers would not be prepared if it happened here. "God forbid that we would have something at one of the schools or one of the businesses where someone went in and went a little crazy on us. They want to have that kind of power with them," Chief Daugherty said. Now that the weapons are in, officers will train on them. Some who have experience with the Rifles have already spent a day getting reacquainted. Those who have never fired one will spend three days learning about when and how to use it. Cedar Rapids police have had semi-automatic Rifles for 10 years and started the transition to the AR-15 five years ago. About 80 percent of that force is certified and carries one. Within a few weeks, the 32 Marion officers will be ready as well. "Hopefully, that never happens and no one ever has to pull the weapons out of the squad cars ever," Chief Daugherty said. Daugherty adds that a strong majority of depart ...

The scheme has been criticized by Palestinian human rights groups, who point out that Hamas has previously banned sport from the school curriculum on the grounds that there is not enough time. Hamas authorities introduced the “Futuwwa,” or youth program, into the state curriculum last September for 37,000 boys aged between 15 and 17, conceiving it as a scheme intended to initiate a new generation of Palestinian men in the struggle against Israel. I was excited to learn the right way to use a weapon Izzadine Mohamed, 17, was among students who attended the weekly school classes, which cover first aid, basic fire-fighting and how to fire a Kalashnikov rifle. He was one of 5,000 boys across Gaza who also signed up for a two-week camp at a Hamas military base. “I was excited to learn the right way to use a weapon,” said the teenager. “It’s important because of the occupation.
