I like 9:16 aspect ratio displays on smartphones which is the aspect ratio of FWVGA, qHD, HD and Full HD displays. Apple adopted the a 9:16 for the Apple iPhone 5. This aspect ratio is ideal for watching HD and Full HD video, and makes for narrower and handier large screen phones. It is fine for use browsing mobile sites. I think it is a great aspect ratio for a device used mainly on portrait mode, and less frequently on landscape mode. With tablets, it is a different story. I prefer devices with a 3:4 aspect ratio like Apple iPad's. While most Android tablets use the 9:16 aspect ratio, there are a growing number of Android tablet using 3:4 aspect ratio displays like the 8-inch Cherry Mobile Fusion Wind and the soon to be released Acer Iconia A1 . Another contender in this Arena is the KATA T2. Logitech announced plans to scale down its work force in March, the result of which would see it focus on mobile products. Step forward then, the Harmony Ultimate Hub , which Logitech says will transform iOS and Android smartphones into “personal universal remote” controls. The Harmony Hub is included with a range of Logitech’s pricier offerings but now it will be available standalone. For just $99.99, couch potatoes and smartphone-addicts alike will enjoy the opportunity to control up to eight separate devices from their phone using the hub. The system works by using an app which communicates with the hub to provide IR, RF and WiFi support. The product will become available in the US and selected European markets this August. Those of you holding on to a Galaxy S III might want to prepare yourselves for an update. SamMobile just teased the absolute crap out of us right now, by posting to anyone with a Samsung flagship to backup your files and prepare for an update. They also hashtagged this post with Earl’s Court, which is where a Samsung event is going to take place this Thursday, in London. Samsung should be unveiling the Galaxy S4 Active, as well as ATIV at this event, but there is possibly an Android 4.2.2 test update might be unleashed as well. Sadly, this might only be for the international version of the S3. Also, we have the Galaxy Note II to contend to, so maybe there will be some sort of update for the phablet as well.
