The Arizona Diamondbacks already lead the NL West and now they're getting more good news with second baseman Aaron Hill nearing a return after missing two months with a broken hand. Daniel Berk of the Arizona Daily Star says that Hill has come through his first rehab game and is hoping to come back as early as next week. The 31-year-old played at second for Triple-A Reno, going 1-for-4 with an RBI. Hill implied that he's still dealing with some pain and this rehab assignment will be crucial in determining whether he's able to return. "Right now it's seeing if I can play with it and tolerate the pain and what not," Hill said. "It's on me if we can do this thing. The guys are playing great and it's been fun to watch, but it's obviously more fun to play. " According to Berk, the plan for Hill is to play again on Sunday before an off-day on Monday. If he feels healthy enough to play after that, it's likely he'll be back in a D-Backs uniform by the end of the week. Hill has not played for Arizona since the middle of April, when a hit-by-pitch ultimately sent him to the DL . Hill has had a widely varied career in terms of performance at the plate. He won Silver Slugger awards at second base in both 2009 and 2012 with an excellent OPS+ of 133 in the latter season, but he has also put up some significantly below-average offensive performances, including two seasons of a sub-.300 on-base percentage in 2010 and 2011. Last night we headed over to Chase Field for Aaron Hill bobblehead night. This one commemorates Aaron hitting for the cycle twice last year. In addition to the regular version, the Diamondbacks created 1000 silver bobbleheads to honor the Silver Slugger award he won last year. There was a huge crowd last night of over 44,000 fans so we were lucky to get our two bobbleheads as we entered the gates. We were even luckier to get one of the silver ones. Unfortunately the D-Backs lost miserably to the Giants 10-5. ...

The four-year-old restaurant was just named the best barbecue joint in Texas "the world" by barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn and Texas Monthly (subscription required for full article), and we can see the case for why. The magazine co-sponsored the night with Foody Direct , an online specialty food delivery that partners with select restaurants and businesses across the country. While they don't sell Franklin's barbecue, they do offer 'cue from three other Texas spots on Texas Monthly 's top 50 list: Black's , Snow's , and Kreuz .
