University of Denver men’s lacrosse senior Cameron Flint (Georgetown, Ontario) was named First Team All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) today. This is the first time that a Pioneer was tabbed a first team selection. Joining Flint on the list is senior Eric Law (Denver, Colo.), junior Jeremy Noble (Orangeville, Ontario) and sophomore Wesley Berg (Coquitlam, B.C.) as honorable mention selections. For the third consecutive season, four Pioneers have received All-American recognition by the USILA. The team was voted on prior to the NCAA Tournament. “For the Denver Pioneers, 2013 has been an amazing year and it thankfully continues into the NCAA Championship weekend,” said head coach Bill Tierney . “Whenever a team experiences great success, some of its individual players will rightfully be honored. Cam Flint, Eric Law and Wesley Berg have consistently led us to new heights. Being named DU’s first, First Team All-American is a special honor that Cam deserves as he has been a force for us this year and throughout his career. Rasmussen Reports unveiled a poll on Thursday which shows 47 percent of likely voters across the nation think more government spending hurts the economy while 31 percent of them believe more government spending helps the economy. “Why didn’t the government admit to these things before today? Why did they admit to them today?" On her show last night, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow raised some interesting questions regarding the Obama administration’s Wednesday admission that it killed four American citizens in drone strikes since 2009, three of who “were not specifically targeted by the United States.” First, Maddow addressed confirmation that Jude Kennan Mohammed, accused of being part of a terrorist cell, was killed by a drone strike—despite the FBI maintaining a “wanted” page for him. “Did the FBI really not know that that guy had not been killed until the attorney general told Congress and the general public about it this afternoon?” Maddow inquired. “If they were looking for him but another agency of the U.S. government, presumably the CIA or maybe the military—some other part of the government knew that that guy had been killed by us in a drone strike—did those other parts of the U.S. government really not tell the FBI?” Maddow also raised questions about the drone strike victims who “were not specifically targeted by the United States,” who include Jude Kennan Mohammed, 16-year old Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, and Samir Khan, the founder of Inspire magazine. “With the government basically admitting that only one of these four AMERICANS was killed on purpose as part of specific targeting, doesn’t that mean the government today admitted that the other three Ameri ...

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Three University of Maryland men’s lacrosse seniors were named to the 2013 USILA Scholar All-America team the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced Wednesday. Long pole Jesse Bernhardt earned his second USILA Scholar All-America award, becoming Maryland’s first-ever two-time honoree. He is joined on the 2013 team by attackman Owen Blye and midfielder Landon Carr. Bernhardt, Blye and Carr each earned their degrees earlier this month. Bernhardt earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Blye finished his degree in Operations Management, while Carr earned a degree in Kinesiology. According to the USILA, the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established in 1989 to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III. The Scholar All-Americas are recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-America Banquet.
