Though his 14 th -ranked Tigers lost the final two games of the Florida State series to close out the regular season, Clemson’s head coach feels his squad is ready to make a run in the postseason. The postseason will begin Wednesday in the ACC tournament when Clemson takes on No. 10 NC State at 7 p.m. from Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC. “Early in the season I saw us as a pretty good team and late in the season, I see us as a much better team and team that I would not want to bump into if I was playing us,” Leggett said Monday. “I think that is kind of how I look at it. “Hopefully, we can play well, but we have some really good baseball (games) ahead of us this weekend and a lot will tell how far we have come.” The Tigers (39-17) have come a long way since April 1. On that day, they were 16-11 heading into Game 3 of their series at then top-ranked North Carolina. Clemson fought off the Tar Heels that evening in 11 innings to start an 11-game winning streak. Later on, it carried a nine-game winning streak which ended in Tallahassee, Fla., this past weekend. Will Syracuse be playing in a postseason conference tournament in the Big Apple once again? It’s possible after the murmurs that came out of the ACC meetings last week in Florida. Several coaches, athletic directors, and officials engaged in deep discussions over whether to move the ACC Championship from Greensboro to a major market such as NYC. Follow The Fizz on Twitter for the latest SU offseason news This possibility has been on the minds of teams and fans ever since realignment took place and destroyed the Big East we came to love . But does the southern-based ACC want to move away from its longtime center, and further from several of its original fan bases. The current contract with Greensboro expires after the 2015 season. Plus, MSG is starting to fill its calendar with a tourney for the new Big East, and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn is hosting the Atlantic-10. Jim Boeheim and Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon have been pushing the conference to explore playing in New York, and no legitimate talks are going about a move. With conference realignment seemingly over for the foreseeable future (I said seemingly ), Syracuse's new athletic home, the Atlantic Coast Conference, can focus on other things, like forming its own TV network or reconfiguring bowl ties with the new college football playoffs . Though, those two topics will pop up every now and then, there will be one topic we will hear about a lot until it actually happens -- the ACC men's basketball tournament moving to New York City. From a business standpoint, moving the ACC tournament to New York City seems to make sense. The best basketball under the brightest lights, right? ESPN would love it. The ACC’s marketing department would love it. But would the fans love it? According to ESPN , ACC commish John Swofford is investigating moving the ACC tournament up north to either Madison Square Garden or the Brooklyn Nets’ Barclays Center if the venues were to be available. “We’ll have to wait and see on that,” Swofford said. “We really don’t have all the information yet as far as future opportunities. The ACC tournament, which has always been held in traditional ACC territory, may be making a move up north to the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. Duke last played in Madison Square Garden against Michigan State in 2011, but the Blue Devils may soon be playing the ACC tournament at MSG every year. (Chronicle File Photo) ESPN New York is reporting that the ACC is “investigating” playing it’s men’s basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden, with one source going so far as to saying that the only thing preventing the tournament’s relocation is legal ramifications. Madison Square Garden was the home of the Big East tournament since 1983, but now the former Big East has disintegrated. The new Big East reached a deal with Madison Square Garden to hold it’s tournament in the Big Apple through 2026, but Madison Square Garden can get out of its contract with the new Big East if the league fails to meet certain specifications. Greensboro, N.C., the home of the 2013 ACC tournament, will also host the tournament in 2014 and 2015, but after that the location is up for grabs. Madison Square Garden did not apply for the tournament by the official deadline, but there are ways around that formality. The Cavaliers are riding a four game winning streak into Chapel Hill this weekend thanks to a sweep of Duke last weekend and a midweek thumping of VCU. With only one weekend left in the regular season it is time to look to the bigger fish to fry; mainly the ACC tournament. (Yes, UNC is a HUGE fish, but I like the ACC tournament more.) What do we know about the ACC tournament right now? The Coastal winner will be the #1 seed, and the Atlantic Division winner will be the #2 seed. UNC or UVa will be the #1 seed (Yay!) But a sweep by the Cavaliers eliminated the possibility of an ACC tournament berth for the Blue Devils. Virginia defeated Duke 6-5 Friday, 17-8 Saturday and 14-6 Sunday at Davenport Field in Charlottesville, Va. “[Virginia] didn’t miss many pitches this weekend,” Duke head coach Chris Pollard said. “With an offense like that, [the Cavaliers] have the chance to make a good run in the NCAA tournament.” Leading 5-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning in the series opener, the Blue Devils (25-26, 9-18 in the ACC) appeared poised to pull off the upset.
