| Recently tried to up-date RAM (from 1G to 2 G) in my new iMAC. Installed the chip, and when turned the computer back on it wasn't performing correctly. Seemed like the keyboard and video buffers were way off - I was typing and the typing appearing very slow on the screen - or when dragging a window around the screen - was very 'choppy'.
A day past, then when I turned on the computer, I got the grey screen and 3 beeps - warning of bad RAM. Took the RAM out and the system seems to be running only 75% better. Typing still slow and video choppy.
What gives??
Here are the specs:
iMAC 20" 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo
ATI radeon HD2600 256MB
wired keyboard / mouse
extra RAM chip: KByte - 1GB DDR2 SODIMM 5300 PC-667 200 pin
Any input would be appreciated, or showing me anyway of running a diagnostic to make sure system still .....ok
Thanks ... |
