Zimbabwe's Supreme Court has ruled that the opposition is allowed to stage political meetings ahead of the presidential elections. On Friday, police banned all political gatherings and marches in four major suburbs of the capital Harare. On 27 June, opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai will face President Robert Mugabe in the second round of the presidential elections. Earlier this week, he was detained twice but on both occassions released after just a few hours. Fourteen members of his MDC party were arrested without any reason being given. The MDC says its fears for the security of its members. According to the opposition party, they are being harassed by the authorities to prevent Mr Tsvangirai winning the elections. ...
