| UPDATED 12:10 P.M. EATON TWP. A woman was airlifted after being injured when the SUV she was driving was struck by a train at a crossing north of Charlotte this morning, according to emergency officials. The accident happened at about 9:26 a.m. where Fairview Highway crosses railroad tracks. There are no crossing arms at the location. Eaton County Sheriffs officials said the drivers injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Officials on scene said a Grand Trunk Railroad train was traveling westbound. The car was traveling southbound on the gravel road and was thrown into a nearby creek. Neighbors in the area said arms were to be installed in coming weeks. Daniel Rosenberger, whose property abuts the railroad, said he heard the accident. The Cadillac Escalade was thrown into a creek on his property. The crossing is dangerous, he said. Two years ago someone was killed in an accident there. He pointed to a cross marker near the creek, mostly obscured by weeds. No further details were immediately available.
