In my book, there are numerous reasons to support Barack Obama over John McSame McCain. But I want to focus on one issue: Supreme Court Justice nominations. The reason I'm emphasizing this issue is because it could potentially impact the videogame industry in dramatic ways. The next POTUS will probably nominate up to three new justices on the high court. These justices will interpret our laws for decades to come. I personally support Barack Obama for many reasons, but Supreme Court nominations is right on the top of the list. A while back 1up posted an interesting news article that detailed the campaign contributions of various videogame designers and industry leaders. I was surprised to see that several game designers donated money to candidates like John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, and Mitt Romney. Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing these individuals for supporting Republicans, but it does seem like they're almost betting against themselves. I commented on the article by stating, "Romney got donations? That doesn't make any sense. After all, Romney essentially wanted to bring America back to the 1950s. Good luck trying to hook up a 360 to a 13-inch B&W Zenith." Obviously my comment was mostly tongue and cheek, but there is some truth to it.
