You wouldn’t expect to hit a 90 mph fastball without taking batting practice, right? So why would you venture onto “The Price Is Right” without knowing how much roll it takes to buy, say, a Pontiac Solstice convertible? “Twenty-six thousand dollars,” Bradley baseball player Adam Kimble says. “It was on the list.” Big fan of the popular morning TV game show, Kimble is; watches every day he’s not in class. Not as big a fan as his mother, Mary, though. The list was her idea. “Four pages, I’d have to say hundreds of items,” Adam says. “One page of cars, one for trips, one for groceries, one for everyday items, I think.” All compiled and studied in depth, in case they got into the studio to be part of the show’s live audience and then heard that jackpot phrase for one of them to “Come on down!” That’s pretty much all Adam was allowed to tell anyone for a whole week: His name got shouted out to be a contestant on national television — tune in to watch at 10 a.m. CDT Wednesday. Now, though, the show has aired and the news is out. Adam was the Showcase winner of a seven-day trip to Japan, a 63-inch plasma TV with surround-sound and an array of kitchen appliances. Total value: $17,228. And the muzzle is off. “Stunning,” Adam says.
