In a wide-ranging interview with WNBC's Jay DeDapper that will air on News Forum Sunday, Rep. Anthony Weiner declined to dance on Rep. Vito Fossella's political grave, side-stepping the question of whether the scandal-scarred congressman should resign. "And at the end of the day there's a child involved, and I think the family needs a little time to try to sort this out," Weiner said. "The political stuff I think will take care of itself. And clearly, these are challenges that Vito's family faces." "But, you know, given the idea that this is, at the end of the day, not just a political question but one that affects his family, I'd just rather let - give him a little space to work this out for himself." Weiner said there are "a lot of reasons" why he thinks a Democrat should represent the 13th CD, but he cautioned against anyone who might take "too much glee" in Fossella's downfall, adding that they "do so at their own peril." Weiner, a staunch Hillary Clinton supporter and superdelegate, said he intends to support her until the bitter end, but also acknowledged she has "an uphill climb here." He expressed hope for the "dream ticket," but said he would like to see Barack Obama in the No. 2 position.
