Wichita may not be the type of city with dog parks or cafes that allow canine visitors. But it is home to one of the region's most successful and popular dog-centered events: Woofstock. The annual event -- which describes itself as a celebration of peace, love and pets -- is the Kansas Humane Society's biggest fundraiser and includes activities ranging from a pet photo booth to a "mutt strut" to a herding demonstration. There's fun for people, too, including live bands, vendors and a silent auction. "People really like doing stuff with their pets, and there aren't that many opportunities in Wichita," said Jennifer Campbell, the Humane Society's director of communications. "They can come to this event with their dog and know it's safe and that there's fun things for them to do." ...
