Dear All, It is with great pride and pleasure that I report that a group of 9 alumni from 1983 to 1998 batch gathered together on August 16th along with family members for 5 hours in a restaurant in Chicago area. There was participation from as far as Denver, Fargo, Columbus and Minneapolis. For those who are not familiar with US geography, these places are about 1000, 650, 400 and 400 miles away from Chicago respectively. To the best of our collective knowledge and belief, this was a first time effort for such a gathering in the Midwest US area. There was a lot of socializing between the alumni as well as among the family members. The kids seem to have enjoyed equally, if not more, than us alumni. The meeting got more interesting when Prof B B Singh addressed the group over the phone and wished all the best and asked to keep the Malaviyan spirit alive in whatever corner of the world we might be in. Although the discussion was focused on getting to know each other better, a lot of ideas to improve the alumni network and college-alumni relations were freely discussed. Some of the key ones were - 1. Institutionalize the MAA-US Chapter as an official entity. 2. Facilitate the donation of Sun Ultra-10 computers from ST Microelctronics to the college to set up a high performance grid computing lab. 3. Institute a "Ask Alumni" type discussion board with a particular alumni fielding questions for a set duration. 4. Organize some Webinars/Live ...
