Barack Obama leads John McCain in a general election match-up for Oregon by 52 percent to 38 percent while Hillary Clinton is ahead by 46 percent to 40 percent in a May 7 survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of error is 4.5 percent. Obama’s margin represents a gain of 8 points since March in this poll and part of the reason is that McCain gets the backing of only 68 percent of voters in his own party. Obama’s favorability rating is 61 percent, McCain’s is 52 percent and Clinton’s is 47 percent. In mid-April, SurveyUSA had Obama ahead 51 percent to 42 percent while Clinton ran statistically even with McCain.
