 A UK man was arrested recently after officers from the Greater Manchester Police Department mistook a life-size Lara Croft figure for an armed man. As reported by the Daily Mail , David Williams, 42, received the statue of the Tomb Raider heroine as a promotional item for the store he runs. He took the statue home with the intent of selling it on Ebay. Later that night, Williams received some harassing phone calls and called the police. When the officers arrived, they peered into the window and noticed the silhouette of Lara Croft holding a pistol. In response, they blocked the entire street and sent a SWAT team through the back door of the home and held Williams at gunpoint. Williams was arrested, held for 13 hours in jail, and charged with a firearms offense despite pointing our the Lara Croft statue to the police. The Lara Croft figure was confiscated as evidence. Williams is considering a lawsuit. ... |
