United Auto Workers Local 1268 set up a benefit fund for the family of a Janesville, Wis., man who suffered a heart attack near the end of his shift Monday night at Chrysler’s Belvidere assembly plant. Craig Woychik was transported from the plant to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday. You can take or send donations in Craig Woychik’s name to any of the five Belvidere Bank branches in Belvidere or 11 Alpine Bank branches in Rockford, Cherry Valley, Loves Park, Machesney Park and Roscoe. Woychik was working at Chrysler as a summer temporary employee, hired to fill in as permanent workers took vacation time. The plant actually was scheduled to be closed this week and next week for retooling, but the fuel-efficient vehicles made there have been selling so well the company kept the plant running this week.
