There's no shortage of travel sites, each sporting more and more features and tools that allow you to plan and track travel excursions. That's great if you're looking for a ton of features and want to get lost in the experience of planning and logging trips. But what if you just want some basic information about a place, like the weather, major roads, restaurants, and local events? TripTouch , a new travel site currently in beta, promises to provide that information in an easy to understand format.
TripTouch wants to provide all of the information for a safe and informed trip, but doesn't want to overwhelm you with it at the same time. The site is laid out in a grid with information like the weather, local restaurants, and regional events in individual "widgets" located on the page. You can't drag the widgets around or arrange them, but you can turn them on and off.
When signing up for an account at TripTouch, you also get the benefit of networking with other TripTouch members. The site has some basic social networking features, and allows you to fill out a profile with location information, the places you like to travel, and where you travel to often. You can even upload photos of your travels, connect with other friends using the service, and log trips to keep a running list of the places previously visited.
