The head of law enforcement for the Triad Municipal Alcohol Beverage Control office has been charged with taking money from the FBI. The News & Record of Greensboro reported Thursday that federal court documents show Danny Ray Burton of Winston-Salem is charged with theft. Court records show the FBI and the State Bureau of Investigation conducted an undercover sting earlier this month in which Burton received money allegedly recovered from an illegal gambling operation. Documents state it was later determined that the amount of money in the Triad ABC Law Enforcement evidence room was "significantly lower than the pre-counted amount." The documents say Burton was the only officer with access to the money. No telephone listing was available for Burton, who was released following a court appearance Wednesday. ...
