Staff Reporter The Government yesterday reset transport fares consequent upon a sharp rise in fuel prices with immediate effect. As per new rates, per-kilometer passenger fare for bus has been raised to Tk 1.05 and for minibus Tk 1.08. However, the passenger fares for the buses and minibuses passing through Mawa and Paturia ferry terminals were fixed at Tk 1.08 and Tk 1.11 respectively. Power tariffs may also go high sharply as a proposal to increase the tariffs by 42 per cent is already pending with Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), Chief Advisor’s Special Assistant for Power and Energy Ministry Dr M Tamim told journalists yesterday. ...
